(d) Turn the screwdriver 90 degrees in the clockwise direction.
NOTE: Make sure the indicator grooves are at an angle of
____ 90 degrees from the edge of the door.
(e) If the latches on the panels are worn and need to be replaced do these steps: 1) Remove the latch nut from the screw, then remove the screw
and indicator from the panel. 2) Remove the anchor block and shimplate on the panel that is attached by rivets.
3) Install a new shimplate and anchor block with BMS 10-79 TYPE III and rivets. a) Make sure the end of rivet fills the countersink for
the anchor block a minimum of 80 percent and is flush to +0.01 inch. 4) Install new screw, latchnut and indicator.

FORWARD FAIRING - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure:
(1)
The first task removes the forward fairings
(2)
The second task installs the forward fairings.
B. There are three forward fairings:
(1)
The first fairing, the forward fairing, is above the fan cowl panels at the front of the strut.
(2)
The second fairing, the mid-strut fairing, consists of a left and right half that covers the mid section.
(3)
The third fairing, the forward leading edge fairing, is at the top rear of the strut, above the wing leading edge.
C. To get the access to the forward strut mount fitting, it is necessary to remove the forward fairing.
D. To get the access to the control cables of the engine you must remove the forward fairing, the mid-strut fairing, and the wing leading edge fairing.

D. Procedure

(1) Do these steps to remove the forward fairing (Fig. 401):
(a)
Remove the screws at 28 locations that attach the forward fairing to the strut.
(b)
Remove the clips that attach to the top of the fairing and disengage the fairing.
(c)
Remove the clips from the aft edge of the fairing.
