Do these steps to remove the aft fairings (Fig. 401):
(a)
Remove the bolts that attach the fairings to the strut.
(b)
Remove the fairings.

(1) Torque Control Tool -"HERBIE", P/N VST 15-50,

F. Install the Aft Fairings

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE STRUT COMPARTMENTS ARE FREE OF TOOLS, LOOSE
_______ MATERIALS, AND CONTAMINATION. DAMAGE TO THE STRUT COULD OCCUR.
(1)
Before you install the access panel, remove, all tools, loose material, and contamination from the strut compartment.

Do these steps to install the aft fairings:
(a)
Make sure the mating faces of the fairings are clean.
(b)
ON ALL THE FAIRINGS EXCEPT THE REAR PANEL OF THE AFT FAIRING AND THE FORWARD PIN ACCESS PANEL, if not already done, apply the fiberglass resin compound to all the edges of the fairing.
NOTE: It is not necessary to apply the fiberglass resin
____ compound to the rear aft fairing and the access panel for the forward pin.
1) If the fairing is new, it can be necessary to use a small sander to put a small bevel on the inside edge.
