 CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE YOU USE A BRASS SLUG TO PUSH OUT THE FUSE PIN.  IF
 YOU DO NOT USE A BRASS SLUG, THE CLEVIS MAY NOT STAY ALIGNED
 WITH THE LUG.  DAMAGE TO THE BUSHINGS OR THE STRUCTURE CAN
 OCCUR.
 CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE ALL THE MIDSPAR FUSE BOLTS AND DIAGONAL BRACE PINS
 ARE INSTALLED.  DAMAGE TO THE STRUCTURE CAN OCCUR.

 (4)  Remove the aft fuse pin from the upper link (Figure 402, Detail D).
 (a)  
Remove the cotter pin, nut, bolt, two washers, and two caps.

 (b)  
Remove the fuse pin: 1) Apply a thin layer of grease to a new pin or a brass slug. 2) Push out the bolt with the new pin or the brass slug.


 a) Make sure the clevis and the lug stay aligned.

_______ INSTALLED. REMOVE ONLY ONE MIDSPAR FUSE BOLT AT A TIME. DAMAGE TO THE STRUCTURE CAN OCCUR.
 (5)  Remove the fuse bolt from the midspar fitting (Figure 402, Detail C).
 (a)  
Remove the side link assembly to get access to the midspar fuse bolt (Figure 402, Detail H). 1) Remove the cotter pin, nut, bolt, and two washers at the

 higher end of the side link. 2) Remove the locknut, bolt, and washer at the lower end of the side link. 3) Remove the two halves of the side link assembly.

 (b)  
Remove the cotter pin, nut, bolt, two washers, and cap from the midspar fuse bolt. The C54003 socket can be used to hold the fuse pin while the nut is being removed.

 (c)  
Remove the locknut and washer from the fuse bolt.

 (d)  
Remove the fuse bolt: 1) Apply a thin layer of grease to a brass slug. 2) Push out the fuse bolt with the brass slug.


 a) Make sure the clevis and the lug stay aligned.

 (6)  Make sure the load on the strut is kept the same until you install the pin/bolt again.

Dynamometer, 0-5,000 pound capacity, |2% accuracy

Lift Equipment (Engine supported)

 (a)  
C54003-1 Socket, Midspar Fuse Pin Removeal/Installation

 (b)  
C54004-1 Sling - Engine Fan Case

 (c)  
C54005-1 Pin/Bolt Removal and Installation Kit (Brass Slugs)

 (d)  
Crane, approved to lift 12,000 pounds.

 1)  Pull Pac Cylinder BRP-306, P-80 Pump, HC-941 Hose Assembly (Alternative) - ENERPAC, Division of Applied Power, Inc., Butler, Wisconsin.

 (e)
Dynamometer, 0-6,000 pound capacity, | 2% accuracy.

 


 1)  Two dynamometers are necessary if the crane has an adjustable load limiter, or if you use a precision load positioner.
 2)  A third dynamometer of 12,000 pound capacity is necessary if the crane does not have an adjustable Load Limiter. 3) Chain Hoist, 6,000 pound capacity (2 are necessary). 12
 (3)  Tag Lines - used for controlling the engine/strut sling.
