 5. Heat Shield Assembly Drain Check

 (1)  
Funnel and Hose

 (2)  
Container - Minimum of 1 U.S. gallons (4 liter) of water

 C. Procedure

 (1) Find the drain exit in the heat shield assembly (Fig. 601).

Put a dry container below the heat shield assembly drain exit.

 (3)  
Do the drainage check as follows:

 (a)  
With a funnel and hose, put 1 U.S. gallon (128 fluid ounces) of clean tap water to the forward end of the heat shield assembly.

 (b)  
Stop approximately 3 minutes.

 (c)  
Make sure that the water collected at the drain exit is no less than 114 fluid ounces. 1) If not, examine the sources of leakage as follows:

 a) Examine the strut area. b) Examine the strut drain line. 2) Repair the sources of leakage, if it is necessary.

 (d)  
Make sure the upper surface of the heat shield assembly is clear of the blockage and contamination.

 (4)  
Remove all the water that stay in the strut.

 (5)  
Make sure all areas in the upper surface of the heat shield assembly are clean.

 (6)  
Install the fairing to the outboard forward end of the aft strut fairing.

 6. Remove All Blockage From The System Disconnect Box Drain

25-35 Psig Regulated Air Supply (Hose and Nozzle)

 (1)  
Remove the forward fairing (AMM 54-32-01/401).

 (2)  
Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 (3)  
Remove the blockage as follows:

 (a)  
Put a rag above the drain line inlet to collect the contamination.

 (b)  
Apply the 25-35 psig air pressure through the drain line exit.

 (c)  
Make sure the air flows freely from the inlet.

 (d)  
Remove the rag and contamination from the drain line inlet.

 (e)  
Make sure all areas are clean and dry.

Install the forward fairing (AMM 54-32-01/401).

Close the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 7.  Remove All Blockage From The Strut Midspar Drain________________________________________________
