Find the strut drain exit below the engine (aft of the starter air vent in the right fan cowl panel) (Fig. 601).

Put a dry container below the system disconnect box drain exit.

Do the drainage check as follows:
(a)
With a funnel and a hose, put 2 U.S. gallons (256 fluid ounces) of clean tap water into the system disconnect box.
(b)
Apply the water smoothly over the bottom of the disconnect box with approximately 50 percent on the two sides (left or right sides).
(c)
Stop approximately 3 minutes.
(d)
Make sure that the water collected at the drain exit is no less than 250 fluid ounces. 1) If not, examine for the sources of leakage as follows:
a) Examine the strut area. b) Examine the strut drain tube. 2) Repair the sources of leakage, if it is necessary.
(e)
Make sure the system disconnect box is clear of the blockage and contamination.

Remove all the water that stays in the strut.

Make sure all areas in the system disconnect box are clean.

Install the nacelle strut forward fairing access panel (AMM 54-32-01/401).
