(5) Do a check of the clearances at the mid spar attach fittings (Fig. 401, Detail D).
(a)
Make sure the distance between the face of the wing fitting bushing and the mid spar fitting is 0.020-0.060 inch (0.508-1.524 mm). 1) It is permitted to have a maximum difference of 0.005 inch
(0.127 mm) between the left and right sides of the strut.
(b)
Make sure that the clearance (mid spar fitting to wing fitting) adjacent to the head end of the fuse pin (outboard side) of both the left side fitting and the right side fitting is between 0.020-0.060 inch (0.50-1.52 mm). 1) The gap on the left side fitting must be within 0.005 of
the same gap on the opposite (right side) fitting.
(c)
Make sure the clearance adjacent to the nut end of the fuse bolt is between 0.020-0.105 inch (0.50-2.67 mm).
(d)
If the clearances are more than the limits, replace the applicable side link assembly.

(6) Loosely attach the aft clevis of the diagonal brace to the wing attach point with these parts as follows:
(a) Use a fuse pin, bolt, end caps and washers.
NOTE: If it is necessary, apply an up and down load of
____ 0-3000 pounds at the forward sling spreader bar (that attach to the bootstrap fitting (STA 194.24)) to install the pin.
Put the countersunk washer below the bolt head (the bolt head is pointed to the wing tip).

(7) Loosely attach the lower clevis of the diagonal brace to the attach points for the strut lower spar.
