2) If you remove an optional (custom fitted) diagonal brace, this same brace, or a new brace with the same center-to-center distance, must be installed on the same strut and airplane where it was removed. a) Tag the brace with the airplane number and the strut
location, or make sure this data is marked on the brace.
(b)
Remove the cotter pin, nut, bolt, two washers, and two caps.
(c)
Remove the pin: 1) Apply a thin layer of grease to a new pin or a brass slug. 2) Push out the pin with the new pin or the brass slug.
a) Make sure the clevis and the lug stay aligned.

CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU USE A BRASS SLUG TO PUSH OUT THE FUSE PIN. IF YOU DO NOT USE A BRASS SLUG, THE CLEVIS MAY NOT STAY ALIGNED WITH THE LUG. DAMAGE TO THE BUSHINGS OR THE STRUCTURE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE ALL THE UPPER LINK PINS AND MIDSPAR FUSE BOLTS ARE
_______ INSTALLED. DAMAGE TO THE STRUCTURE CAN OCCUR.
(2) Remove the aft fuse pin from the diagonal brace (Figure 402, Detail G).
(a)
Remove the cotter pin, nut, bolt, two washers, and two caps.
(b)
Remove the fuse pin: 1) Apply a thin layer of grease to a new pin or a brass slug. 2) Push out the pin with the new pin or the brass slug.
a) Make sure the clevis and the lug stay aligned.

(3) Remove the forward pin from the upper link (Figure 402, Detail E).
(a)
Remove the cotter pin, nut, bolt, two washers, and two caps.
(b)
Remove the pin: 1) Apply a thin layer of grease to a new pin or a brass slug. 2) Push out the pin with the new pin or the brass slug.
a) Make sure the clevis and the lug stay aligned.
