CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE THE HOISTS ARE IN A SERVICEABLE CONDITION. THE
CABLES OR CHAINS OF THE HOISTS MUST SHOW NO SIGNS OF
DAMAGE. USE A FLASHLIGHT TO EXAMINE THE HOIST ATTACHMENT
BRACKETS BEFORE INSTALLATION OF THE HOISTS. A DAMAGED
HOIST ATTACHMENT BRACKET CAN CAUSE INCORRECT SUPPORT OF
THE APU. YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:_______ FOR A HOIST WITH CABLES, MAKE SURE THE HOIST CABLES ARE
WOUND EQUALLY AROUND THE DRUMS WHILE YOU LIFT THE APU. BE
CAREFUL WHEN YOU LIFT THE APU. THE CABLES CAN BECOME
MIXED UP ON THE DRUMS. THIS CAN CAUSE THE APU TO SUDDENLY
FALL. DAMAGE TO THE APU, THE HOIST, AND THE FITTINGS CAN
OCCUR.
(b)
Slowly lift the APU into the APU compartment.
1) Make sure you keep the APU clear of the airplane structure while you lift it.
(c)
When the APU is almost in its position, stop the APU movement and examine these items: 1) Make sure the mount caps do not cause interference with the
installation. 2) Make sure the seal for the cooling air inlet duct correctly aligns with the flange for the cooling air fan.
(d)
Align the air inlet flange for the compressor plenum with the air inlet duct on the upper shroud.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE APU DOES NOT MOVE TO THE SIDE DURING THE
_______ LAST INCH OF TRAVEL. A MOVEMENT TO THE SIDE CAN CAUSE THE SEAT OF THE AIR INLET DUCT TO INCORRECTLY ALIGN WITH THE COOLING FAN FLANGE. THIS CAN CAUSE THE COOLING AIR SYSTEM TO OPERATE INCORRECTLY.
(e) Slowly lift the APU into its position.
1) When the APU is in its position, make sure the seal for the cooling air inlet duct makes a good connection with the cooling fan flange.
2) If there is a clearance between the cooling fan flange and the seal for the cooling air duct, close the clearance: a) Lift or lower the APU by pulling or pushing the APU
gearbox assembly until the seal is lightly compressed by the cooling fan flange.
NOTE: Lowering the right aft mount on the APU will
____ lift the cooling fan flange and compress the seal. Lifting the right aft mount will lower the cooling fan flange and make the seal not compressed.

b) Measure the distance from the bottom of the vibration isolator on the right aft mount to the bottom of the cap on the engine mount bracket.
NOTE: The clearance between the vibration isolator and
____ the cap must be 0.11 +0.03/-0.11 inch
(2.79 +0.76/-2.79 mm).
c) Do the above adjustment steps again until the clearance between the vibration isolator and the cap is correct.
(f) Close the mount caps and install the bolts, the washers, and the nuts (Fig. 401, Detail D). 1) Tighten the nuts to 30-40 pound-inches (3.4-4.5 N.m). 2) Make sure there is a minimum clearance of 0.005 inch (0.13
mm) between the cap lip and the mount gusset after you tighten the nuts (Fig. 401, Detail H).
NOTE: This will make sure there is a positive
____ connection on the vibration isolator.
(g)
Turn the compressor plenum up until the plenum opening aligns with the air inlet duct in the upper shroud.
(h)
Move the lock handles for the air inlet duct inboard until the heel of the cam falls behind the spring arm.
NOTE: The heel of the lock handle cam must engage the spring
____ arm of the compressor plenum. If the heel does not engage the spring arm or too much force is necessary to move the lock handles inboard, washers up to 0.10 inch
(2.5 mm) thick may be added between the spring arm and the compressor plenum at each fastener location.
