 (8)  AIRPLANES WITH THE ETC; Prepare to bleed the fuel control unit for the APU dry motor procedure:
 (a)  Loosen the retaining plug one turn counterclockwise.
 NOTE: There are two retaining plugs on top of the timed
____ acceleration head. You loosen the retaining plug on the aft end of the timed acceleration head.
 (b)  Put one more container below the fuel control unit.

 (9)  Set the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel to the START position and release it to the ON position.
 NOTE:____The APU will motor for approximately 90 seconds. A device in the APU control unit causes the APU to stop. Dry motor of the APU removes preservative oil from the fuel control unit.

 AIRPLANES WITH THE ETC; Tighten the retaining plug to 25-30 pound-inches (2.8-3.4 newton-meters).

 Set these switches and the circuit breaker:


 (a)  Set the No. 1 AFT FUEL PUMP switch on the P5 forward overhead panel to the OFF position.

Set the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

 AIRPLANES WITH THE ETC; Remove the containers with the fuel from below the fuel atomizer and the fuel control unit.

 Connect the high pressure fuel line to the fuel atomizer:

 (a)  
Disconnect the fuel drain hose from the high pressure fuel line for the fuel atomizer.

 (b)  
Connect the high pressure fuel line to the fuel atomizer.

 (14) Remove the external electrical power from the airplane
 (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 CAUTION: KEEP A MINIMUM CLEARANCE OF 0.18 INCHES (5 MM) BETWEEN THE

 ENGINE, FIRE DETECTOR, CLAMPS AND LOWER SHROUD.

 BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
 (15) Install the lower shroud:
 (a)  
Hold the lower shroud against the upper shroud.

 (b)  
Close the shroud latches.

 (16) Close the APU cowl door:
 (a)  
Disconnect the door support rods.

 (b)  
Put the door support rods in the clips on the APU cowl door.

 (c)  
Close the APU cowl door.

 (d)  
Close the latches for the APU cowl door.

 (17) Set the circuit breaker and the switch:
 (a)  
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

 (b)  
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel.
