 (11) Visually examine the air inlet system:
 (a)  
Examine the air inlet door to make sure it is clean and does not have distortion.

 (b)  
Examine the inlet door actuator for electrical and mechanical connections that are loose or broken.

 (c)  
Examine the duct for damage.

 (d)  
Examine the duct connections for loose and broken fasteners.

 (e)  
Examine the door switch for electrical and mechanical
 connections that are loose or broken.


 (f)  
Examine the door linkage for loose and broken fasteners.

 (g)  
Examine the door seal for deterioration and damage.

 (12) Visually examine the APU compartment:
 (a)  Examine the fuel drain outlet on the fuselage to make sure it
 is clean.
 (b)  Make sure the APU mounting bolts are tight.
 (c)  Examine the APU mounting structure for loose fasteners.
 (d)  Examine the rubber cushion of each vibration isolator on the
 shroud mounting brackets for cracks, separations and
 displacements.
 (e)  Examine the APU shroud for loose and broken fasteners.
 (f)  Examine the three seal assemblies on the upper shroud for
 tears, loose parts and missing pieces.
 NOTE: You can find the three seal assemblies around the bottom____
 outer edge of the upper shroud. These seal assemblies
 engage with the lower shroud during the lower shroud
 installation.
 1) Cuts, moderate deterioration, small deformations and worn
 areas that cannot cause a fire to go through the space
 between the upper and lower shrouds are permitted.
 (g)  Examine all the external electrical and tube connections for
 tightness.
 (h)  Open and close the door in the side of the shroud.
 1) The door must open easily and fully close.

 (13) Clean the drain lines for the APU shroud (AMM 49-16-11/701).

 CAUTION: KEEP A MINIMUM CLEARANCE OF 0.18 INCHES (5 MM) BETWEEN THE
_______ ENGINE, FIRE DETECTOR, CLAMPS AND LOWER SHROUD.
 BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
 (14) Install the lower shroud:
 (a)
Hold the lower shroud against the upper shroud.

 (b)
Close the shroud latches.

 (15) Close the APU cowl door:
 (a)
Disconnect the door support rods.

 (b)
Put the support rods in the clips on the APU cowl door.

 (c)
Close the APU cowl door.

 (d)
Close the latches for the APU cowl door.

 (16) Set the circuit breaker and the switch:
 (a)  
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

 (b)  
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel.

 3.  APU Condition Monitoring Check (Fig. 602)

 A.  General
 (1)  
This is a maintenance check which will identify APU problems if it is done at regular times. Problems that are found can be corrected before they cause flight delays, part replacements, or APU failures.

 (2)  
A description is given for each item on the data sheet (Fig. 602). The reference values are the recommended values for this task.
