D. Procedure

(1) Install the hinge assembly to the air inlet door (Fig. 403):
(a)
Apply the grease to the bushing and the hinge pin.
(b)
Attach the hinge assembly to the air inlet door with the hinge pin, washers and cotter pin.
NOTE: The hinge pin must be installed with the head up.

(2) Install the unit (the hinge assembly and the air inlet door):
(a)
Carefully install the unit on the airplane with the screws (Fig. 403).
(b)
Make sure the vortex generator flap has no limits in its movement. 1) If the vortex generator flap does not move freely,
lubricate the air inlet door (AMM 49-15-22/301).
(c)
Connect the pushrod for the vortex generator flap (Fig. 402): 1) Apply the grease to the pin of the pushrod for the vortex
generator flap. 2) Carefully put the pushrod through the grommet in the duct. 3) Before you put the pushrod into the barrel fitting, install
the hex nut.
NOTE: The hex nut goes on the end of the pushrod that has

the threads.
4) While you turn the hex nut, put the pushrod through the barrel fitting.
NOTE: The hex nut will stop at the top end of the threads.

(d) After all three pushrods are correctly set, tighten the screws that install the door hinge assembly on the airplane (Fig. 403).

(e) (f) (g) (h) Install the two pushrod bearings on the two pushrods (Fig. 401).Put the pushrod bearings on the actuator arms (Fig. 401).Install the bolts, nuts and washers that connect the pushrod bearings to the actuator arms (Fig. 401).Put the nut on the inboard end of the pushrod for the vortex generator flaps (Fig. 402).
NOTE:____ Do not tighten the nut at this time.
(3) S 414-010Close the access door to the actuator of the air inlet door.
(4) S 864-011Set the circuit breaker and the switch: (a) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit (b) Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel.
(5) S 704-012Do a test of the air inlet door and the vortex generator to align them correctly (AMM 49-15-00/501).

VORTEX GENERATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1)
A removal of the vortex generator
(2)
An installation of the vortex generator.
B. The vortex generator is installed on the air inlet door. You must remove the air inlet door from the airplane for the removal of the vortex generator.
