Open the APU cowl door.

Connect the door support rods.

(3) Remove the lower shroud:
(a)
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.
(b)
Remove the lower shroud.

Visually examine the compressor air inlet for loose fasteners.

Examine the engine for damage (Fig. 601).
(a) Look through the exhaust duct muffler to examine these parts: 1) Examine the hose assembly and the fittings for the oil tank
vent for damage. 2) Examine the exhaust flange assembly for cracks. 3) Examine the turbine wheel and exducer for damage. 4) Examine the APU exhaust area for unwanted materials or
loose pieces. 5) Replace the APU if damage, unwanted materials or loose pieces are found.

(6) Visually examine the fuel system:
(a)
Examine the fuel filter element to make sure it is clean.
(b)
Examine the tubes for loose or broken clamps.
(c)
Examine the connections for tightness and leakage.
(d)
Examine the flexible lines for chafing.
(e)
Examine the gaskets of the fuel control unit for leakage or deterioration.
(f)
Make sure there are no loose electrical or pneumatic
connections.

(7) Visually examine the bleed air system:
(a)
Examine the ducts for loose connections and loose or broken clamps.
(b)
Examine the control air tubes for loose connections.
(c)
Examine the electrical connectors to make sure they are not loose.

Examine the duct connections for loose or broken fasteners.
(b)
Examine the duct for deformation or corrosion.

(9) Visually examine the lubrication system:
(a)
Examine the oil filter element to make sure it is clean.
(b)
Examine the oil tank for oil quantity, loose or broken mountings, and leakage.
(c)
Examine the air inlet for the accessory cooling fan to make sure it is clean.
(d)
Examine the oil system tubes for connections that are loose or that leak.
(e)
Examine the oil pump for leakage.
(f)
Examine the oil pressure switches for leaks and loose
electrical connectors.
(g)
Examine the oil cooler for leakage.
(h)
Examine the low oil pressure switches for leaks and loose electrical connectors.
(i)
Examine the oil level switch for leaks and a loose electrical connector.

(10) Visually examine the starter system:
(a)
Examine the starter for loose mounting bolts or electrical connectors.
(b)
Examine the ignition unit for loose mounting bolts or
electrical connectors.
(c)
Examine the igniter plug for carbon particles.
(d)
Examine the igniter plug cable for damaged insulation and loose connectors.
(e)
Examine the tachometer generator for loose mounting bolts and electrical connectors.
