(2) Open the APU cowl door:
(a)
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.
(b)
Open the APU cowl door.
(c)
Connect the door support rods.

CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
(3) Remove the lower shroud:
(a)
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.
(b)
Remove the lower shroud.

(4) Disconnect the APU (Fig. 401):
(a)
Disconnect the APU harness, the APU starter motor, and the APU generator plugs from the receptacles in the upper shroud.
(b)
Disconnect the generator control plug for the APU from the receptacle in the upper shroud.
(c)
Disconnect the plug for the EGT indication system from the receptacle in the upper shroud.
(d)
AIRPLANES WITH THE ETC; Disconnect the plug for the electronic temperature control from the upper shroud receptacle.
(e)
Disconnect the air line for the bleed load control from the fitting in the upper shroud.
(f)
Put the container below the fuel hose elbow on the low pressure fuel filter.
(g)
Disconnect the fuel hose from the elbow on the low pressure fuel filter (Fig. 401, Detail B). 1) Let the fuel drain into the container.
(h)
Disconnect the plug for the fire detection element from the receptacle in the upper shroud.
(i)
Disconnect the bonding jumper on the upper shroud from the APU.

(j) Install the caps, covers and plugs on all the disconnected
lines and ports to prevent contamination.

(5) Install the APU hoist equipment (Fig. 401):
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THE HOISTS ARE IN A SERVICEABLE CONDITION. THE CABLES OR CHAINS OF THE HOISTS MUST SHOW NO SIGNS OF DAMAGE. USE A FLASHLIGHT TO EXAMINE THE HOIST ATTACHMENT BRACKETS BEFORE INSTALLATION OF THE HOISTS. A DAMAGED HOIST ATTACHMENT BRACKET CAN CAUSE INCORRECT SUPPORT OF THE APU. YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: FOR A HOIST WITH CABLES, MAKE SURE THE HOIST CABLES ARE
_______ EQUALLY WOUND AROUND THE DRUMS BEFORE YOU USE THE HOIST TO HOLD THE APU. CABLES THAT ARE NOT EQUALLY WOUND CAN CAUSE THE APU TO FALL SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE APU, THE HOIST, AND THE HOIST FITTINGS.
(a)
Attach the hoist assemblies in the APU compartment brackets
with the pins.
(b)
Attach the hoist cables or chains to the cradle assembly tubes with the pins.
(c)
Install the cradle base on the APU engine.
1) Attach the base in its position with the pins (Fig. 401, Detail A).
(d)
Tighten the hoist cables or chains to remove the load from the APU engine mounts.

(6) Remove the APU (Fig. 401):
(a)
Remove the clamp that attaches the coupling for the bleed air duct to the bleed air flange.
(b)
Push the coupling for the bleed air duct outboard until it
stops.
(c)
Remove the screws, washers and nuts from the lock handles for the air inlet duct.
(d)
Move the lock handles for the air inlet duct outboard until the heel of the cam is free from the spring arm.
