Turn the compressor plenum down until the plenum opening does not align with the duct in the upper shroud.

Remove the nuts, the washers, and the bolts that attach the mount caps to the engine mount brackets (Fig. 401, Detail D). 1) Do not remove the cap and the hinge bolts for the mount
bracket.
(g)
Open the mount caps.
(h)
Slowly lower the APU engine on the transportation dolly.
1) Make sure the APU stays clear of the air duct coupling, the fuel line, and the airplane structure while you lower it.

CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE YOU EXAMINE THE APU FIRE DETECTOR. THE WALTER KIDDE
AND THE SYSTRON DONNER FIRE DETECTORS ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.
THE APU MUST HAVE THE CORRECT FIRE DETECTOR INSTALLED. THE
FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM FOR THE APU WILL NOT OPERATE WITH AN
INCORRECT DETECTOR INSTALLED.
(1)
Visually examine the APU engine to make sure it has the correct fire detector installed.

Make sure the cooling fan inlet screen is clean.
(a) If it is necessary, replace with a new or a clean cooling fan inlet screen.

(3) Inspect the APU air inlet for blockage, missing fasteners, and loose fasteners.
(a)
If you find blockage, remove the blockage that you find.
(b)
If you find loose or missing fasteners, repair the loose or missing fasteners that you find.

(4) Install or connect the hoist equipment (Fig. 401):
(a)
Put the APU power plant, installed on a cradle base, directly below the APU compartment.
(b)
If you use the F80002 cradle, put the tubes in the cradle base.
1) Attach the tubes in their position with the pins (Fig. 401, Detail A).
(c)
Connect the hoist cables or chains to the tubes with the pins.
