 (4)  Open the pressure relief door on the forward upper midspar
 (AMM 54-62-00/201).

 (5)  Put the HYD PUMPS ENGINE switch for the applicable system in the ON
 position.
 NOTE:____ The switch is on the P5 panel.

 CAUTION: DO NOT MANUALLY MOVE THE POSITION INDICATOR ON THE
_______ HYDRAULIC SHUTOFF VALVE WHEN THE VALVE HAS ELECTRICAL POWER. DAMAGE TO THE VALVE CAN OCCUR.
 (a)  Make sure the position indicator on the hydraulic shutoff valve is in the OPEN position.

 WARNING:_______DO NOT TURN THE FIRE HANDLE. THE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLES WILL LET THE CONTENTS OUT AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE IF YOU TURN THE FIRE HANDLE.
 (6)  Pull out the applicable fire handle on the P5 panel. NOTE: You must push the fire override switch installed below
____ the fire switch to operate the fire handle.
 (a)  Make sure the position indicator on the hydraulic shutoff valve moves to the CLOSED position and the motor stops.

 (7)  Push the HYD switch on the EICAS DISPLAY SELECT panel that is on the P10 glare shield panel. (a) Make sure the HYD synoptic shows the hydraulic shutoff valve is closed.

 (8)  Push the fire handle back to its usual position. (a) Make sure the position indicator on the hydraulic shutoff valve moves to the OPEN position and the motor stops.
 (b)  Make sure the HYD synoptic shows that the shutoff valve is open.

 ENGINE-DRIVEN HYDRAULIC PUMP - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  The variable displacement engine-driven pump gives the normal system pressure for each of the four main hydraulic supply systems. The pump is an in-line, pressure-compensated-type unit which gives a non-pulsating flow of fluid in changing volume and within a set pressure range. It is capable of operating in either a normal operating pressure range or in a depressurized range, as required by the system.
 B.  The normal operating range is 3100 psi and the depressurized pressure range is approximately 1200 psi. When the pump is operating as a depressurized unit, a fluid flow of about 1.5 gpm is generated. This flow gives lubrication and cooling for the pump components.
 C.  The pump has a full stroke displacement of 2.4 cubic inches per revolution. With volumetric losses, the effective flow output at full stroke is 1 gpm per 100 pump rpm. It has a minimum supply rate of 37 gpm at 40-45 gpm when the pump is turned at 3700 rpm.
 D.  Since the pump is directly geared to the engine, the pump flow output is given by the engine rpm and engine pad ratio.
 2.  Description (Fig. 1)___________
