IF CONTAMINATION IS SUSPECTED, DO PROCEDURE IN ACCORDANCE WITH BOEING DOCUMENT D6-24429, AN ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR CONTAMINANTS IN BMS 3-11 FLUIDS AND THEIR MIXTURES USING DIFFERENTIAL IR SPECTROSCOPY
CONTAMINATION IS A QUANTITY THAT IS MORE THAN THAT IN THE BASE STOCK OR THE GROUP OF ITEMS WHICH YOU ADD. COMPARE THE DATA FROM THE FLUID ANALYSIS WITH THE LIMITS PUT ON THE NEW FLUID.
THE PRECISION OF |10 PPM IS APPLICABLE TO TOTAL VALUES IN THE RANGE FROM 0 TO 1000 PPM. IN THE RANGE FROM 1000 TO 3000 PPM, THE PRECISION WILL DECREASE TO |50 PPM WITH SOME EQUIPMENT.
THESE ARE THE MAXIMUM CONTAMINATION LIMITS BASED ON A 100 MILLILITER SAMPLE SIZE.

Procedure
S 116-002
(1)
Clean the polyethylene bottle:
(a)
Prepare a solution of the detergent and hot water.
(b)
Clean the bottle fully.
(c)
Flush the bottle two times in hot water from a faucet.
(d)
Flush the bottle two times in the distilled water.
(e)
Drain the bottle and let it dry in the air in a laminar flowbench of a clean room.
NOTE: If a laminar flow bench is not available, the bottle
____ can be turned with the bottom up and put in a clean dry room. All persons must stay away from the room until the bottle is dry and sealed with a cap.
(f)
When the bottle is dry, install the screw cap.
(g)
Put the bottle in a new polyethylene bag.
(h)
Seal the bag with a knot or with some tape.
(i)
Identify the bag.
(2)
Clean the glass bottle:

_______ YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE ACID. PUT ON A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE AND GLOVES WHEN YOU USE THE NITRIC ACID. KEEP THE AICD AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME, AND HEAT. THE NITRIC ACID IS A POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE SOLVENT WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a)
Flush the bottle fully in the nitric acid solution.
(b)
Flush the bottle two times in hot water from a faucet.
(c)
Flush the bottle two times in the distilled water.
(d)
Flush the bottle with isopropyl alcohol that is filtered through the Gelman type filter.

(e)
Flush the bottle with the petroleum ether put through the Millipore filter.
