 3. Job Set-up

 Subtask 57-53-00-941-064
 A. Safety Precautions
 (1) Put warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
 (2) Put the safety barriers in position. Subtask 57-53-00-860-096
 B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
 (1)
 Fully extend the flaps (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-008).

 (2)
 Make sure that the LOCKING TOOL - FLAP/SLAT CONTROL LEVER is installed on the flap/slat control lever.

 (3)
 Put the access platform below the applicable wing trailing edge at flap tracks 3 and 4, zones 532(632) and 533(633).

 (4)
 Lower the flap track 3 and 4 movable fairings (Ref. TASK 57-55-11-010-002).

DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.

 -
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.


 -MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

 Subtask 57-53-00-020-050
 A. Preparation for Inspection
 (1)
 Remove these items:

 -
the cotter pin (1)

 -
the nut (2)

 -
the crushable spacer (3)

 -
the nut (4) and the washer (5)

 -
the locking plate (6)

 -
the splined bush (7).

 

 (2)
 Use the PIN-SLAVE (98D27504033000) and remove the bolt (8).

 (3)
 Discard the cotter pin (1) and the crushable spacer (3).

 (4)
 Carefully remove the rivet (9).

 (5)
 Use MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026) to clean the bolt (8).

 B. Inspection
 (1) Do a special detailed inspection of the bolt (8) (Ref. NTM 57-53-52 PART 7).
 NOTE : If necessary, replace the bolt (8).

 C. Connection of the Outboard Flap
 (1)
 Make sure that the bolt (8) is clean.

 (2)
 Apply a layer of COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004A) to the inner sleeve of the bolt (8).

 (3)
 Assemble the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve of the bolt (8) and secure with a new rivet (9) (NSA5414-40-000).

 (4)
 Install the bolt (8) with the GUIDE-CARRIAGE PIN (FLAP TRACKS 2, 3 AND 4) (98D27504004000). Remove the PIN-SLAVE.

 (5)
 Remove the GUIDE-CARRIAGE PIN (FLAP TRACKS 2, 3 AND 4) from the bolt (8).

 (6)
 Install the splined bush (7) and make sure that it is correctly engaged with the flap spherical bearing.

 (7)
 Install the locking plate (6).

 (8)
 Install the new crushable spacer (3) and the nut (2).

 (9)
 TORQUE the nut (2) to between 15.0 and 20.0 m.daN (110.61 and 147.49 lbf.ft).


 (10)
 Make sure that a minimum of two full turns of internal thread can be seen at the end of the nut (2).

 (11)
 Safety the nut (2) with a new cotter pin (1).


 (12) Install the washer (5) and the nut (4). Subtask 57-53-00-865-078
 D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 6CV, 8CV.

 E. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
 (1)
 Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.

 (2)
 Lift the flap track 3 and 4 movable fairings (Ref. TASK 57-55-11-410-002).
