 (1)
 Put warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
 (2)
 Put the safety barriers in position.

 B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
 (1)
 Extend the flaps fully (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
 (2)
 Make sure that the LOCKING TOOL - FLAP/SLAT CONTROL LEVER is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
 (3)
 Put the access platform below the applicable wing trailing edge at flap track 2, zone 531(631).

 D. Get Access R (1) Lower the flap track 2 movable fairing (Ref. TASK 57-55-11-010-001).
 (2)
 Disconnect the inboard flap from the flap track 2 carriage (Ref. TASK 27-54-61-000-001). Do not remove the end stop from the flap track.
 (3)
 Move the carriage along the flap track, until you can get clear access to the carriage forging.
R  (4) Use a clamp to hold the carriage in position on the flap track. Use a protective pad to prevent damage to the flap track surfaces.

 A. Preparation for Inspection
 (1) Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026) to clean the carriage forging.
 (2) If applicable, clean the rear face of the carriage forging.
