cursor over this field and typing in the desired weight. If cargo value
is zero, then enter zero rather that leaving the field dashed.
GROSS WT - Gross weight is not an entered weight but rather, is
the sum of Empty Weight, PAX, Cargo and Fuel Onboard.
FLT NBR - Flight number is entered at this location by bringing the
cursor over this field and typing in the desired number. A maximum
of six digits may be used. The flight number is retained through
touchdown and liftoff and need not be entered unless a change is
desired.

UPLOAD FUEL - Fuel upload and download entries are made at this
location by bringing the cursor over this field and typing in the
desired amount. Upload is indicated by using a + and download in
indicated by using a -. A total of six numbers may be used including
+ and -. Upload fuel values are reset after takeoff and do not need
to be entered if no change is made.
FUEL ONBOARD - The total fuel onboard value is stored in memory
until manually changed. Confirmation is required following
initialization.
Position Checks and Updates
Inflight Accuracy Checks
Inflight accuracy checks can be accomplished by pressing the HOLD
POS line select key from DATA page 1 or NAV page 2 while over a
known ground reference. With the position held, the FMS best
computed position can be compared with the known reference or the
position determined using other navigation equipment such as VOR,
DME, TACAN, ADF, or radar fix to establish the aircraft position.
Check Distance/Radial from a Known Position
This procedure can be used to automatically calculate the distance
and radial from any waypoint in the data base to the aircraft's held
position.
1. Access the HOLD POS page by pressing the DATA function key
and then selecting the HOLD POS line select key.
2. Press the [FMS # POS] line select key to access the DEFINE
POSITION page.
3. Verify that the cursor is over the reference waypoint identifier
entry field.
4. Enter the identifier of the known position. When the identifier is
entered, the distance and radial to the aircraft's HOLD position
will be computed and displayed.
5. Press the RETURN line select key to exit the page with no
changes.

Check or Change Distance/Radial of Pilot Waypoint
from REF WPT
1. Press the DATA function key to access the Data Base Menu
page.
2. Select PILOT-WAYPOINT option to access the PLT WPTS
directory. Use the NEXT and PREV keys as necessary to locate
the desired waypoint.
3. Enter the reference number associated with the desired
waypoint or type the identifier. When the identifier is entered,
the Waypoint Identification page for that identifier will be
displayed.
4. Select the MODIFY PLT line select key to display a DEFINE
POSITION page for the waypoint.
NOTE: If the waypoint is being used in a route, flight plan,
approach, etc., then MODIFY PLT will not appear, rather,
IN USE will indicate that waypoint cannot be edited.
Disregard remainder of this procedure.
5. Verify that the cursor is over the reference waypoint identifier
entry field and then type in the desired identifier. When that
identifier is entered, the Waypoint Identification page for that
waypoint will be displayed. When the ACCEPT line select key is
pressed, the distance and radial from the reference waypoint to
the PILOT WPT will be computed and displayed. The radial or
distance may be changed provided that the waypoint is not in
use, or you may enter a second reference waypoint and cross
radial.
6. Press the ACCEPT WPT line select key twice to enter any
change to the PILOT WAYPOINT position.

Best Computed Position Update
All Universal FMS systems are designed so that this procedure
should never be necessary during normal operations. However, the
procedure does allow for a manual enroute FMS best computed
position update over a known point. In general, a best computed
position update is accomplished by positioning the cursor over a set
of FMS position coordinates and then changing them. The update
can be accomplished on the NAV Position page (NAV page 2), on
the FMS Position page (DATA page 3), or on a HOLD POS page as
described in the following procedure:
NOTE: This procedure affects the system quality (Q) factor.
1. Access the HOLD POS page by pressing the DATA function key
and when over a known geographic position, by pressing the
HOLD POS line select key.
