DME 8.0)
NOTE: To enter the ‘At or Above’ altitude constraint, press the line
select key next to ALT CONST. A page will appear with
@ and up/down arrows. ‘@’ indicates ‘At’ altitude, fl
indicates ‘at or above’; ± indicates ‘at or below’ and both
arrows indicate an altitude window constraint. Press the fl
line select key [2L] and enter 4200.
• Heading to Radial (Left turn to Heading 140° until intercepting the
TUS 225° radial).
NOTE: To specify ‘left turn’, press the TURN DIR line select key

• Direct To Fix (Direct to VAINE).
Defining the COMMON SEGMENT
The COMMON SEGMENT legs are as follows:
1. Track to Fix (VAINE to ILEEN)
2. Heading to Intercept (Hdg 105° to Intercept)
3. Course To Fix (Crs 065° to CIE)
These legs are defined similarly to the runway legs, except that
when the SEGMENT screen appears, select COMMON for each leg.
The resultant screens are shown below. On the SID LEG page, the
‘C’ in the left column denotes a Common Segment leg.

Defining the ENROUTE SEGMENT (SSO)
The enroute segment leg is as follows:
1. Track to Fix (CIE to SSO)
Select the Track to Fix screen, and designate this leg as ENRTE
TRAN. On the SID LEG page, the ‘E’ in the left column denotes an
Enroute Transition leg.

Adding Other Runway and Enroute Transitions
1. From the SID LEGS page, press RETURN line select key to
bring up the DEPARTURE page.
2. Place the cursor over the RUNWAY field, and select the number
of the other runway for which transition legs are desired, in this
case Rwy 11L.
3. Now press SID LEGS line select key to display the procedural
legs pages. Notice that all Runway transitions for 29R are
missing, and that the SID legs start at VAINE intersection.

We will, therefore, need to insert the Runway transition legs for Rwy
11L. These legs are as follows:
1. Heading to Altitude (Hdg 123° to 3250 feet)
2. Course to Fix (Crs 123° to VAINE)

1. Begin by pressing the top left line select key. The leg path page
will be displayed.
2. Select HDG, then when Leg Terminator page appears, select
ALTITUDE. Fill in the data fields with the appropriate
information (Select RWY TRAN when the Segment page
appears).
After this initial leg is ACCEPTed, the screen will return to the SID
LEGS page. There will be a GAP between the first and third legs.
This gap was inserted by the FMS because the Heading-to-Altitude
leg terminator did not match the next waypoint, in this case VAINE
intersection. For now, ignore the gap.

3. Press the second line select key from the top left (next to the
Gap). When the Leg Path page appears, select CRS TO, and
when the Leg Terminator page appears, select FIX. Fill in the
appropriate data (Crs 123° to VAINE), and select RWY TRAN
when queried for which segment. The resultant page will appear
as follows:
After ACCEPTing this page, the screen will return to the SID LEGS
page. Notice that the Gap has disappeared automatically. The
reason is that the Course-to-Fix (VAINE) matched the next waypoint
exactly.
NOTE: Always use a named waypoint as the transition point
between Runway and Common and Enroute Segments.
This allows proper linking into the flight plan with no gaps.
If a “floating waypoint” (e.g., Heading to Altitude or Course
to Intercept) is used, a gap will always appear in the flight
plan, necessitating editing of the flight plan to eliminate it.
