(1)
Remove the caps from the fuel metering unit (FMU) (5) and the fuel pump.

If you will install a new FMU (5), install these parts on the FMU:
(a)
Lubricate a new packing (26) with the petrolatum.
(b)
Install a new packing (26) on the adapter (27).
(c)
Put the adapter (27) on the FMU (5).
(d)
Lubricate the threads of inboard bolts (28) with engine oil.
(e)
Install the adapter (27) to the FMU with two inboard bolts (28).
NOTE: Only tighten the bolts with your hand at this time.

(f)
Lubricate a new packing (23) with the petrolatum.
(g)
Install new packing (23) on the adapter (22).
(h)
Install the adapter (22) in the FMU (5).
(i)
Tighten the adapter to 200-225 pound-inches (22.6-25.4 newton-meters).

Install the FMU:
(a)
Install the FMU M3108 (5) on the fuel pump:
1) Lubricate the packings (13, 14, 32, and 33) with the petrolatum.
2) Install the transfer tubes (34) to the fuel pump as follows: a) Install one packing (32 and 33) to both of the transfer
tubes (34). b) Install the transfer tubes (34), packing side inward, to the fuel pump ports. c) Install the retainers (35) to hold the transfer tubes (34) in position in the fuel pump. d) Install the remaining packings (13 and 14) to the
transfer tubes (34) on the fuel pump. 3) Lubricate the studs on the FMU (5) with engine oil. 4) Install the FMU (5) on the fuel pump.
NOTE: Make sure the supply tubes on the fuel pump align

with the ports on the FMU.
5) Install the FMU (5) to the fuel pump with the washers (15) and the nuts (16). 6) Tighten the nuts (16) to 270-300 pound-inches (22.6-33.9 newton-meters).
(b) Install the bracket (30) on the adapter (27): 1) Lubricate the threads of two bolts (28 and 29) with engine
oil. 2) Put the bracket (30) on the adapter (27). 3) Install the bracket (30) with the bolts (28 and 29).
NOTE: Install the bolt (29) at the bottom hole of the
____
bracket.
4) Tighten all four bolts to 65-85 pound-inches (7.3-9.6 newton-meters).
(c) Connect the supply tube (2) for the fuel distribution valve: 1) Remove the caps from the supply tube (2). 2) Lubricate the packings (8) with the petrolatum. 3) Install the packings (8) and the retainers (7) on the ends
of the supply tube (2). 4) Lubricate the threads of the adapter for the fuel flow transmitter and of the FMU adapter (27) with engine oil. 5) Connect the tube nuts (1) to the adapter for the fuel flow transmitter and to the FMU adapter (27). 6) Tighten the tube nuts (1) to 100-110 pound-inches
