EEC WIRING HARNESSES - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure gives the instructions to remove and install the W3, W4, W5, and W6 harnesses. A different removal and installation procedure is given for each harness.
 B.  The W3 harness connects to the W1 harness at the 10 o'clock position on the HPC case. The W3 harness goes to the components that follow: the engine air/oil heat exchanger valve at the 7 o'clock position, the 2.5 bleed valve actuator at the 7 o'clock position, the bypass valve solenoid for the fuel/oil cooler at the 8 o'clock position, and the stator cable for the EEC alternator and the thermocouple probe for the EEC oil temperature at the 7 o'clock position on the main gearbox.
 C.  The W4 harness connects to the W1 harness at the 1 o'clock position on the HPC case. The W4 harness goes to the components that follow: the actuator for the turbine case cooling (TCC) air valve at the 2 o'clock position, turbine vane and blade cooling air (TVBCA) valve at the 2:30 o'clock position, the control valve for the HPC secondary flow at the 3 o'clock position, variable stator vane (VSV) actuator at the 4 o'clock position, fuel metering unit (FMU) at the 5 o'clock position, the solenoid for the 2.9 bleed valve at the 5 o'clock position, and EEC speed transducer (N1) at the 5 o'clock position.
 D.  The W5 harness connects to the W2 harness at the 12 o'clock position on the HPC case. The W5 harness goes down each side of the HPC.
 (1)  
On the right side of the HPC, the W5 harness goes to the components that follow: VSV actuator at the 4 o'clock position, FMU at the 5 o'clock position, the solenoid for the 2.9 bleed valve at the 5 o'clock position, the thermocouple probe for the EEC fuel temperature at the 4:30 o'clock position, and the thermocouple probe for the No. 3 bearing oil installed aft of the main gearbox at the 6 o'clock position. The W5 harness connects to the W6 harness on the top of the main gearbox at the 4 o'clock position.

 (2)  
On the left side of the HPC, the W5 harness goes to the components that follow: the control valve for the HPC secondary flow at the 9 o'clock position, the bypass valve solenoid for the fuel/oil cooler at the 8 o'clock position, and the stator cable end of the EEC alternator at the 7 o'clock position on the main gearbox.

 E.  
The W6 harness connects to the W5 harness at the 3:30 o'clock position on the HPC case. The W6 harness goes aft to the EEC thermocouple probe (TT3) on the HPT case, then down and aft to the terminal box of the TT4.95 thermocouple cable on the turbine exhaust case at the 5:30 o'clock position.

You can get access to the W3 harnesses through the left thrust reverser half.

You can get access to the W4 harnesses through the right thrust reverser half.
