Remove the SCU Programming Plug

 (1)  
Remove the rivet pin and collar that attach the lanyard to the lower rear mount bracket of the SCU.

 (2)  
Disconnect the SCU programming plug from the SCU.

 (3)  
Remove the SCU programming plug from the engine.

 S 034-005-N00

 (4)  
Install the protection caps to the SCU programming plug and to the receptacle on the SCU.

D. Procedure

 (1)  Remove the protection caps from the SCU programming plug and the receptacle on the SCU.
 S 424-012-N00
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE PROGRAMMING PLUG HAS THE SAME ENGINE SERIAL
_______ NUMBER FOR THE SPECIFIED ENGINE. IN THE SCU PROGRAMMING PLUG, THE ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER IS IDENTIFIED (BY ELECTRONICS) TO A SPECIFIED ENGINE (BY THE SERIAL NUMBER). YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE SCU PROGRAMMING PLUGS UNLESS THE SCU PROGRAMMING PLUG IS MADE TO THE ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER. THIS MAKES SURE THE CORRECT OPERATION OF THE SCU.
 USE THE CORRECT ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE, AND TOOLS, FOR THE HARNESS CONNECTOR INSTALLATION (AMM 70-24-05/201). IF YOU USE THE INCORRECT ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE, OR TOOLS, A DAMAGED OR LOOSE CONNECTOR CAN OCCUR. A LOOSE CONNECTOR PERMITS VIBRATION, WHICH CAUSES THE CONTACTS TO WEAR AND DECREASES THE LIGHTNING PROTECTION.
 (2)  
Connect the SCU programming plug to the J4 receptacle on the SCU as follows:

 (a)  
Examine the SCU programming plug and receptacle for bent pins or sockets, and contamination.

 (b)  
If it is necessary, make the bent pins straight.

 (c)  
If it is necessary, clean the connector.

 (d)  
Replace the SCU which has damaged sockets (AMM 73-21-15/401).

 (e)  
Align the keyway and push in the SCU programming plug in the receptacle.

 (f)  
While you push in on the SCU programming plug, tighten the coupling ring with your hand.


 NOTE: The SCU programming plug is correctly attached when you
____ cannot see the color band nearest to the threads.

Attach the lanyard to the lower rear mount bracket of the SCU programming plug with the rivet pin and collar.

Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition.

Close the right fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-04/201).

For the applicable engine, remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers as follows:

P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
 1) 6G15 SCU ALT PWR ENG 1
