(c)  Remove the fuel supply tube (21) from the engine: 1) Disconnect the tube nut (19) from the adapter on the fuel bypass valve. 2) Disconnect the tube nut (20) from the adapter (22) on the FMU (5). 3) Disconnect the tube nut (25) from the manifold for the fuel
 supply. 4) Remove the tube (21) from the engine. 5) Install the caps on the adapter (22), the adapter for the
 fuel bypass valve, and the manifold for the fuel supply.
 (d)  Remove the FMU M3108 (5) from the fuel pump: 1) Remove two bolts (18 and 29) which install the bracket (30)
 to the FMU. 2) Remove the nuts (16) and washers (15) which install the FMU
 (5) to the fuel pump. 3) Remove the FMU M3108 (5) from the fuel pump. 4) Remove the transfer tubes (34) from the fuel pump as
 follows:
 a) Remove the packings (13 and 14) from the transfer tubes

 of the fuel pump. b) Remove the retainers (35) that hold the transfer tubes

 (34)
 in the fuel pump.


 c)  Remove the transfer tubes (34) from the fuel pump and remove the packings (32 and 33) from the inner grooves of the transfer tubes.
 5)  Install caps on the fuel pump openings.

 (3)  
If you will replace the FMU (5), remove the parts from the FMU:

 (a)  
Remove the adapter (22) from the FMU (5).

 (b)  
Discard the packing (23).

 (c)  
Remove two bolts (28) which install the adapter (27) to the FMU (5).

 (d)  
Remove the adapter (28) from the FMU (5).

 (e)  
Discard the packing (26).

 (4)  
If you will not install the FMU (5) on the engine in less than 24 hours, do the preservation procedure:

 (a)  
Drain all remaining fuel from the FMU (5).

 (b)  
Install the caps on all the ports but not on the transfer tube port for the fuel pump.

 (c)  
Put the FMU (5) on a bench in the level position (as
 installed).


 (d)  
Fill the FMU (5) with the sufficient oil to apply a layer of
 oil on all areas which usually are open to fuel.

 

 NOTE: Fill the FMU with the oil through the transfer tube

 ports.

 (e)  Make sure all internal parts get a thick layer of oil.

Move the FMU (5) at an angle.

 (g)  
Drain the oil from the FMU (5).

 (h)  
Install the caps on the transfer tube ports for the fuel pump.
