The Diploma of Engineering (Advanced Trade)
has been developed to address the skills
shortage within the engineering sector. It
provides an industry-based qualification, a
more efficient career pathway for
tradespeople and technicians and creates
significant employment opportunities for
graduates. The program provides the
practical skills needed to complement the
theoretical material covered through the work
placement in industry.
Learning by doing
You will focus on hands-on, industry-based
learning with workshop practice on manual
machines that includes CNC programming
and setting, Autocad and Solidworks drawing
and drafting in addition to basic electrical
applications and welding.

Years one and two are conducted at the City campus
and years three and four are conducted at the
Bundoora campus.

Aerospace engineering is an exciting
profession focusing on the analysis, design
and operation of sophisticated aerospace
hardware and software systems. The term
‘aerospace’ includes atmospheric and
space flight.
As with all fields of engineering, aerospace
engineering is complex and demanding,
requiring talented, creative and highlymotivated
people. Those considering the
aerospace engineering degree need
well-developed skills in mathematics and the
physical sciences as aerospace is a highly
analytical field of engineering. In addition, you
must have good communication skills.
The aerospace industry in Australia is
international and export-oriented.
The emphasis is firmly on value-added design
and manufacture activities that are
internationally competitive and that make
