Abaris Training Scholarships
Abaris Training Resources, Inc., known for their quality advanced composite training, is pleased to offer the following three
individual scholarships. Transportation & housing are the responsibility of the applicant.
1. Advanced Composite Structures: Fabrication & Damage Repair Phase 1 & 2 - 2 week program - $3,390 Value
2. Advanced Composite Structure: Fabrication & Damage Repair Phase 1 - 1 week program - $1,795 Value
3. **Advanced Composite Structures: Damage Repair Phase 2 - 1 week program - $1,795 Value
Requirements: All AWAM Scholarship Application requirements, plus:
1. **Recipients must have attended Abaris Training’s Phase 1 course or must have completed a comparable course at a
different institution and must provide certification of Basic Composite course to gain entry into the Phase 2 course.
2. Applicant must also submit a short (200 words or less) essay on their interest in composites.
American Eurocopter Maintenance Scholarship
American Eurocopter began operating in 1969 and has become a leading provider of helicopters for U.S. Civilian, Law
Enforcement, Military, Homeland Defense and other markets with more than 1,800 American Eurocopter rotary-wing aircraft flown
by more than 600 operators. They provide in-house maintenance training courses teaching technicians how to maintain their
Eurocopter Helicopter for intermediate inspections in accordance with the maintenance manual as well as a thorough
understanding of the skills and requirements needed to evaluate aircraft performance following maintenance actions.
These courses provide “first-hand shop work experience through on-the-job exercises.”
This scholarship consists of a seat in a Eurocopter Maintenance course of your choice (listed at
www.eurocopterusa.com/training/maintenance.asp). Transportation to and from the training
facility and hotel accommodations are the responsibilities of the recipient.
Requirements: All AWAM Scholarship Application requirements, plus:
1. Recipient must have their A&P License
“Taking it to the Sky” Scholarship
This scholarship is given by one of our board members, Anna Romer, and her family. The “Taking it to the Sky” scholarship
consists of a $500 award given in memory of Anna’s grandfather, Robert Linder Sr., who was extremely proud of his
granddaughter’s accomplishments in aviation until his passing in May 2009.
Requirements: All AWAM Scholarship Application requirements, plus:
1. Recipient must be female.
2. Recipient must be beginning, or in the process of earning their Private Pilot’s License
3. 200 words or less describing what made you want to earn your Private Pilot’s License

Horizon Air Technical Training Scholarships
Recipients of this scholarship may choose from any of the professional courses given at Horizon Air, Oregon. Any AWAM member,
regardless of their background, who seeks to learn more about improved maintenance activities, important safety issues, and other
standard operating procedures, is invited to apply. Hotel accommodations will be provided. Transportation and any additional
expenses will be the responsibility of the scholarship recipient.
(Two Scholarships will be awarded.)
Requirements: All AWAM Scholarship Application requirements as defined on the AWAM application.
FlightSafety International’s “Principles of Troubleshooting”
FlightSafety will donate a scholarship for their very popular “Principles of Troubleshooting Course”, used by major airlines, military,
schools and colleges. Designed to provide the technician with a logical approach to solving aircraft problems, it includes individual
hands-on practice utilizing simulated aircraft system malfunctions. The ten-day, on-line course features synchronous, real-time
instructor/student interaction utilizing the same high quality courseware as FlightSafety Learning Centers. Even the final exam is
administered and graded on-line. From a learning perspective, it is just as good as being there but does not require travel.
Requirements: All AWAM Scholarship Application requirements, plus:
2. The recipient must be female.
3. Must have finished at least the first year of A&P training.
4. Applicant must submit a short (200 words or less) essay defining how this course will enhance her career.
