 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure contains one task:
 (1)  Clean the oxygen system components.
 B.  When you do the installation and maintenance of the oxygen system, you must keep your work area clean. If your work area is not free of contamination, the conditions that follow can occur. When contamination that burns and ignition conditions are near oxygen, a fire or explosion can occur. Contamination on the external surfaces of a component can cause fires when oxygen leaks and ignition conditions are near. Contamination can prevent the components of the oxygen system from their correct operation. Contamination of the oxygen system can also supply dangerous fumes to the persons who use the oxygen equipment.
NOTE: All the oxygen system components must be clean and dry when
____
 installed.

Use a clean and dry lint-free cloth to clean the components and the tubing of the oxygen system.

 S 117-004
CAUTION: ONLY USE CLEANING SOLVENTS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE COMPONENTS
_______ FOR AN INSTALLED SYSTEM. DO NOT USE CLEANING SOLVENTS ON THE INSIDE OF THE OXYGEN SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
 (3)  Remove contamination on the installed components, not in contact with the oxygen system using the steps that follow:
 (a)
Use cleaning solvents (series 96) to remove the contaminants that remain (AMM 20-30-96/201).

 (b)
Dry the component with a clean and dry lint-free cloth.
