C. Prepare to Install the Oxygen Generator
NOTE: The capacities of the oxygen generators are not all the same.

Make sure you install the correct part number.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE SAFETY PIN WITH A WARNING FLAG IS INSTALLED ON
_______ THE GENERATOR. THE GENERATOR IS A PYROTECHNIC-ACTIVATED DEVICE. IF THE GENERATOR FIRES, IT WILL GET VERY HOT (450°F OR MORE). THE HOT GENERATOR CAN BURN YOU. YOU MUST NOT TOUCH THE GENERATOR UNTIL IT IS COOL.
CAUTION: YOU MUST BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU INSTALL THE OXYGEN GENERATOR.
_______ DO NOT APPLY FORCE TO AN OXYGEN GENERATOR OR LET IT FALL. THESE ACTIONS CAN PREVENT THE OPERATION OF THE OXYGEN GENERATOR. DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE FIRING MECHANISM FROM THE OXYGEN GENERATOR. IT CANNOT BE ASSEMBLED AGAIN.
(1) Make sure the oxygen generator did not fire as follows:
(a) Look at the heat sensitive band on the generator. 1) If the heat sensitive band is black, the generator fired.
NOTE: Do not install this generator.

(b) Look at the position of the firing pin.
1) If the firing pin is in the fired position you cannot install the release pin.
NOTE: The oxygen generator fired or the firing mechanism
____ is bad. Do not install this generator.
(c) Look for external damage such as dents or ends pushed in.
1) Look for a bent or loose firing mechanism or unusual noises when the generator is shaken gently. a) If you find any of these conditions, the generator is
not serviceable.
NOTE: Do not install this generator.

(d) For one person generators, do the steps that follow: 1) Weigh the generator.
a) If the generator weighs less than 300 grams, the generator fired.
NOTE: Do not install this generator.

D. Install the Oxygen Generator

(1)
Put the generator into the heat shield.

(2)
Put the generator and the heat shield assembly in its position and install the two attachment screws.

(3)
Connect the mask tubing on the generator outlets and push them on tightly.
(a) Before you connect the mask tubing, make sure that one inch of the mask tubing end was cut.
NOTE: The tubing end attached to the generator outlet can
____ increase in diameter if the generator fires.
