(3)
Keep the oxygen away from all sources of ignition (hot exhaust, sparks, flame, smoking).
S 912-005
(4)
Keep the oxygen away from flammable material (fuel, paint, thinners, and cleaning solvents).
S 912-006
(5)
Make sure your hands, clothing, equipment, and tools are clean and free of petroleum materials.
S 912-007
(6)
Put on clean, white cotton gloves that are lint-free during oxygen system maintenance.

(7) S 912-008Use the approved leak detection compounds to do the test.
(8) S 162-009Immediately after the test, rub off the leak detection compound with a clean cotton cloth.
(9) S 912-010Make sure there is a sufficient flow of air through the area when you do maintenance on the oxygen system.
S 092-011
WARNING: DO NOT USE LUBRICANT OR GASKETS, UNLESS SPECIFICALLY IDENTIFIED
_______ IN THESE PROCEDURES, WHEN YOU CONNECT THE FITTINGS IN THE CREW OXYGEN SYSTEM. THE LUBRICANT OR GASKETS CAN CAUSE A FIRE OR EXPLOSION WHEN THEY ARE NEAR PRESSURIZED OXYGEN.
(10)
When you install a component in the oxygen system, make sure you remove all protective caps.
S 212-012
(11)
Make sure the fittings are clean and free of contamination, thread particles and unwanted particles.
S 822-013
(12)
Do not align the components with the B-nut.
NOTE: If the components are aligned with the B-nut, a leak can
____ occur and cause a fire and an explosion.
S 032-014
(13) Do not tighten the fittings with the oxygen system pressurized.

S 862-015
WARNING:_______OPEN THE SHUTOFF VALVE ON THE OXYGEN CYLINDERS SLOWLY. IF YOU DO NOT OPEN THE SHUTOFF VALVE SLOWLY, HIGH TEMPERATURES CAN OCCUR. HIGH TEMPERATURES CAN CAUSE A FIRE OR EXPLOSION OF THE OXYGEN.
(14) To open all the oxygen valves slowly, do these steps:
NOTE:____This will prevent a sudden increase in pressure. This will decrease the possibility of a fire because of an increase in temperature. Make sure that the valves are also opened fully.
(a)
Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).
(b)
Make sure this circuit breaker is closed:
1) P18 Panel
a) OXYGEN SYSTEM IND
CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE MORE THAN 25 POUND-INCHES OF TORQUE. IF YOU USE MORE TORQUE, DAMAGE TO THE VALVE COULD OCCUR.
(c) Slowly open the oxygen cylinder valve to the fully open position with your hand.
NOTE: Do not use more than 25 pound-inches of torque
____
(finger-tight).
(d)
Close the valve one quarter of a turn.
(e)
Install a lockwire on the valve.
(f)
Immediately do a check to make sure the crew system pressure indicator on the aft overhead panel shows approximately the same value as the oxygen cylinder pressure gage.
S 862-016
(15) When you close the oxygen cylinder shutoff valves, also obey this precaution:
CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE MORE THAN 25 POUND-INCHES OF TORQUE. IF YOU USE MORE TORQUE, DAMAGE TO THE VALVE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Close the oxygen cylinder valve slowly with your hand (finger-tight).
NOTE: The maximum torque is 25 pound-inches.
