 A.  This section contains the procedures that follow:
 (1)  
System leak test.

 (2)  
Pressure indication test.

 (3)  
Mask/Regulator test.

 (4)  
The Mask/Regulator in the Stored Condition Test (In-Situ).

 (5)  
Do one of the two leakage test procedures that follow:

 (a)  
The simplified leak test uses a leak detection compound to find leaks on the line fittings.

 (b)  
Time/Pressure decay leak test.

 

 (6)  
The mask/regulator test includes these tests:

 (a)  
The mask/regulator test with masks in the mask box at crew stations with mask stowage boxes.

 (b)  
The mask/regulator test with the mask out of the mask box at crew stations with mask stowage boxes.

 (c)  
The mask/regulator test at crew stations without mask stowage boxes.

 

 (7)  
The pressure indication test does a check of the indication system with an external pressure gage.

 (8)  
For a full test of the crew oxygen system, do these tests:

 (a)  
Time/Pressure decay leakage test

 (b)  
The mask/regulator test with the mask in the mask box at all crew stations.

 (c)  
Pressure indication test

 (d)  
The In-Situ Test for the captain's and the first officer's stations is a pre-flight check.

 


 B.  To do the Crew Oxygen Minimum Dispatch Pressure Check procedure, refer to Oxygen - Servicing (AMM 12-15-21/301).
 C.  Read and obey the safety precautions of the oxygen system and the general maintenance instructions before you do the maintenance (AMM 35-00-00/201).

 (1) G00091 Oxygen System Leak Detection Compound (AMM 20-30-51/201).

 D.  Do the Leak Test

 WARNING: YOU MUST OPEN THE SHUTOFF VALVE SLOWLY, OR HIGH
_______ TEMPERATURES CAN OCCUR. THIS CAN START AN IGNITION WITH THE OXYGEN. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE AND THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (1)  Slowly and carefully open the shutoff valve on the crew oxygen cylinder.

 WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO LEAKS. LEAKAGE OF HIGH PRESSURE OXYGEN CAN BE DANGEROUS. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (2)  
Close the cylinder shutoff valve immediately if you hear air leaks or other indications of air leakage.

Apply the leak detection compound to all parts of the fittings.

Make sure there is no leakage (AMM 35-00-00/201).

Remove the leak detection compound immediately after you examine the connections.

 3.  Time/Pressure Decay Leakage Test________________________________
 A.  Special Tools and Equipment
 (1)  
Caps and Plugs - Clean, Packaged (for oxygen ports and open lines)

 (2)  
There are two external pressure sources, use one of the two with the properties that follow:


 (a)  Portable test cylinder that is filled with air or nitrogen at 1800 |100 psi. 1) Use nitrogen specification MIL-P-27041. 2) If you use air, it must have the properties that follow:
 a)  No particles or fibers larger than 100 microns in the longest dimension for each cubic foot of air.
