If the firing pin is in the fired position (you cannot install the release pin), the generator has fired.

(3) If the generator has fired, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Remove the generator (AMM 35-22-11/401).
(b)
Install a new generator (AMM 35-22-11/401).

CAUTION: IN ADDITION TO THE SAFETY PIN, A SECONDARY SAFETY DEVICE IS
_______ USED FOR THE TRANSPORT OF THE SPARE OXYGEN GENERATOR. THIS SECONDARY SAFETY DEVICE MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE FIRING PIN'S RELEASE PIN HOLE, BEFORE THE RELEASE PIN CAN BE INSTALLED. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD PREVENT THE OXYGEN GENERATOR FROM CORRECTLY ACTIVATING WHEN OXYGEN MASKS DEPLOY.
(4) Remove the secondary safety device, if installed, from the release pin hole in the firing pin.

(5) Inspect the release pin for defects.
(a) Remove and replace the release pin, if it is gauled, bent or corroded.

(6) If the release pin is not installed, put the release pin in the larger of the two holes in the generator firing pin.

If no other maintenance is necessary, close the service unit as applicable.
(a) For the Passenger Service Unit (PSU), push the PSU panel upward to engage the cam latches.

(b) For the Attendant Service Unit (ASU) or Lavatory Service Unit (LSU), do these steps: 1) Repack the oxygen masks (AMM 35-22-31/201). 2) Close the oxygen box door and push on it to engage the door
latch.

OXYGEN GENERATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure gives the instructions for the removal and installation of the Passenger Oxygen System oxygen generators.
B. This procedure gives the instructions for the removal and installation of the oxygen generators in the Attendant and the Lavatory Oxygen System. These systems locate the generator within the mask box. After you install the generator, you must complete the packing procedure for the oxygen masks.
C. Before you remove an oxygen generator, you must install a safety pin to deactivate the generator. When you install a generator, the safety pin must be removed to activate the generator after maintenance. Refer to AMM 35-22-11/201 for oxygen generator deactivation and activation procedures.
