C. Procedure

(1) Open the service unit as applicable to get access to the oxygen generator:
(a)
For the Passenger Service Unit (PSU), do these steps to lower the PSU: 1) Put a rod into the latch access hole (2 locations). 2) Push up on the rod to unlatch the cam latches. 3) Lower the PSU.
(b)
For the Attendant Service Unit (ASU) or Lavatory Service Unit (LSU), do these steps: 1) Put a rod or flat tool into the latch access hole or door
gap, as applicable. 2) Push up on the tool to unlatch the door latch. 3) Open the oxygen box door. 4) Let the oxygen masks fall out.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE RELEASE PIN IS INSTALLED IN THE LARGER OF
_______ THE TWO HOLES, AND THAT THE SAFETY PIN, WHEN INSTALLED, IS INSTALLED IN THE SMALLER OF THE TWO HOLES IN THE FIRING PIN. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD PREVENT THE OXYGEN GENERATOR FROM CORRECTLY ACTIVATING WHEN THE OXYGEN MASKS DEPLOY.
(2)
Visually inspect the firing mechanism to make sure the release pin is correctly installed in the larger of the two holes in the firing pin.

(3)
Do these checks to find if the generator fired:
(a)
If the heat sensitive band on the generator is black, the generator fired.
(b)
If the firing pin is in the fired position (you cannot install the release pin), the generator has fired.

(4) If the generator has fired, do these tasks:
(a)
Remove the generator (AMM 35-22-11/401).
(b)
Install a new generator (AMM 35-22-11/401).
(c)
Repack oxygen masks, if applicable (AMM 35-22-31/201).

(5) If no other maintenance is necessary, close the service unit as applicable:
(a) For the Passenger Service Unit (PSU), push the PSU panel upward to engage the cam latches.
NOTE: The latches will generally make a "click" sound when

they fully engage.
(b) For the Attendant Service Unit (ASU) or Lavatory Service Unit (LSU), do these steps: 1) Repack the oxygen masks (AMM 35-22-31/201). 2) Close the oxygen box door and push on it to engage the door
latch.
NOTE: The latch will generally make a "click" sound when
____ it fully engages.
