Make sure that the applicable emergency exit door is open.

B. Preparation for Installation

_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.

THIS MATERIAL IS DANGEROUS.
(1)
Clean the contact surfaces of the scuff plates and the fuselage skin with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-003) and MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003).
(2)
Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(4)
Put the vacuum equipment adjacent to the required emergency exit. NOTE : We recommend that you use a strong vacuum pump for attachment

of the scuff plates.
4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Scuff Plates
(Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 53-25-41-991-001, 402/TASK 53-25-41-991-002)
(1) Drilling of the scuff plates NOTE : This procedure is applicable only when you install new scuff

plates.
(a)
Put the scuff plates (3), (5) and (9) in position on the door sill.
(b)
Drill the attachment hole of the scuff plates to the final diameter of 4.8 mm (0.1889 in.).
(c)
Remove and deburr the scuff plates (3), (5) and (9).
(2)
Make the top coat of the scuff plates (3), (5) and (9) rough with scotch brite on an area of:
-15 mm (0.5905 in.) width on the scuff plate periphery,
-20 mm (0.7874 in.) radius around each fastener hole.
(3)
Clean the rough area with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-003) and MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003).
(4)
Apply adhesive tape on the rough area of the scuff plates.
(5)
Apply a thin layer of SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-013A) to the remaining inner areas of the scuff plates (3), (5) and (9).
(6)
Remove the adhesive tape from the scuff plates (3), (5) and (9).
(7)
Apply a thin layer of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-005):
