A. Visual Check to Make Sure that the Emergency Exit is Correctly Closed
(1) Visual check to make sure that the applicable emergency exit hatch is correctly closed.
(a) Pull down the cover flap from the hatch and remove it.

(b)
Examine the locking hooks to make sure that they are engaged with the upper roller fittings in the hatch frame.
(c)
Install the cover flap on the hatch and push it against the hatch.
(d)
If the EMER EXIT indication stays on on the lower ECAM DU, examine the hatch position from the outboard side.
NOTE : The hatch must be flush with the fuselage.

(e) If the hatch position is not correct, remove the hatch (Ref. TASK 52-21-11-000-001) and install it again (Ref. TASK 52-21-11-400-001).
(2) Visual check to make sure that the applicable emergency exit hatch is in the ARMED mode.
(a)
Make sure that the escape slide release mechanism is not in the MAINTENANCE mode.
(b)
If the latch pin is in the DISARMED position (escape slide release mechanism in MAINTENANCE mode), arm the slide release mechanism as follows:
1_ Pull down the cover flap from the hatch and remove it.
2_ Make sure that the latch pin is not in the DISARMED position
(latch pin retracted).
1 With a hexagonal socket wrench, push the latch pin against the
_ spring and turn the head of the latch pin a quarter turn clockwise, to extend the latch pin.
2 Make sure that the SLIDE ARMED white indicator light located
_ in the cabin lining near the emergency exits is on.
(c) Install the cover flap on the hatch and push it against the hatch.
NOTE : The SLIDE ARMED white indicator light goes off.

(d) If the latch pin is in the extended position, make sure that the indication is correct, on the lower ECAM DU.
(3) Entry in the log book.
(a) If the indication is not correct, make an entry in the aircraft log book to record that:
-
the SLIDE indication of the hatch is defective on the lower ECAM DU
-
the hatch is in the ARMED mode.

-the EMER EXIT indication is defective on the lower ECAM DU
-the hatch is correctly installed and locked. Subtask 52-70-00-040-051
B. Check of the Applicable Proximity-Switch Handle Flap
(1)
Identification of the proximity switches in relation with the emergency exit.
(a) The identification of the proximity switches is as follows:

Check of the applicable proximity switch
1_ 19WV1 for the L FWD emergency exit
2_ 19WV2 for the R FWD emergency exit
3_ 21WV1 for the L AFT emergency exit
4_ 21WV2 for the R AFT emergency exit.
(a) Replace the defective proximity switch
1 If a new proximity switch is available:
_
-Remove the defective proximity switch (Ref. TASK 52-71-13-000-001).
-Install the new proximity switch (Ref. TASK 52-71-13-400-001).
2 If no proximity switch is avalaible, replace the defective
_ proximity switch by a proximity switch of the avionics-compartment access doors.
-Do a check of the proximity switch you will remove. To do this, do a test of the door warning system of the related avionics-compartment access doors (Ref. TASK 52-71-00-710-001).
