Install the tie-rods (4) and (10) at the center latch mechanism (5).
(a)
Install the clevis pins (18) and the bushes (19) in the levers (24).
(b)
Install the eye-ends of each tie-rod, (4) and (10) and the washers (22) on the related clevis pins (18).
(c)
Install new cotter pins (23) in the clevis pins (18).
(7)
Put the plate (6) in position at the center latch mechanism (5) and install the screws (9).
(8)
Put the latch mechanism (5) with the washers (25) in position on the door (1) and install the screws (8).
(9)
Make sure that the edge of the center latch (5) aligns with the edge of the door blade.
(10)
Install the plugs (7) on the screws (8) of the center latch (5).
(11)
Put the bottom latch (11) in position and install the washers (31) and the screws (12).
(12)
Make sure that the edge of the bottom latch (11) aligns with the edge of the door blade.
(13)
Install the tie-rod (10) at the bottom latch (11).
(a)
Install the clevis pin (18) and the bush (19) in the lever (24).
(b)
Install the eye-end of the tie-rod (10) and the washers (22) on the clevis pin (18).
(c)
Install a new cotter pin (23) in the clevis pin (18).

If necessary, adjust the tie-rods, (4) and (10), to make sure, that there is no play in the linkage.

B. Adjustment of the Latch Mechanism
(1) Adjust the tie-rods (4) and (10) as follows:
(a) Remove the lockwire from the safety devices (21) of the tie-rods
(4) and (10).

(b)
Loosen both locknuts (20) of each of the tie-rods (4) and (10).
(c)
Turn the body of the tie-rods (4) and (10) to make sure that:
-the latch tenons are fully extended,
-there is no play in the linkage.
NOTE : The tie-rod barrel has a right hand thread at one end and
____ a left hand thread at the other end. Therefore you can adjust the length of the tie-rod if you turn its barrel.
(d) Tighten the locknuts (20) against the barrel of the tie-rods (4) and (10) and safety them with lockwire MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-010) to the safety devices (21).
(2)
Adjust the position of the center latch mechanism (5) as follows:
(a)
Remove the plugs (7) and loosen the screws (8).
(b)
Move the latch mechanism (5) until its tenon engages in the catch of the lavatory wall to between 7.0 mm (0.2755 in.) and 9.0 mm (0.3543 in.) in depth.
(c)
Tighten the screws (8) and install the plugs (7).
(3)
Adjust the position of the top latch mechanism (2) as follows:
(a)
Loosen the screws (3)
(b)
Move the latch mechanism (2) until its tenon engages in the catch of the lavatory wall to between 7.0 mm (0.2755 in.) and 9.0 mm (0.3543 in.) in depth.
(c)
Tighten the screws (3).
(4)
Adjust the position of the bottom latch mechanism (11) as follows:
(a)
Loosen the screws (12)
(b)
Move the latch mechanism (11) until its tenon engages in the catch of the lavatory wall to between 7.0 mm (0.2755 in.) and 9.0 mm (0.3543 in.) in depth.
(c)
Tighten the screws (12). NOTE : Make sure that the top and bottom latch tenons are already
____ in closed position before the center latch tenon engages.

(d) Put the covers (14) and (16) in position and install the screws
(13) and (17) and the fasteners (15). R

C. Operational Test
(1)
Make sure that the cockpit door is open.
(2)
Do this test to make sure that the latch mechanism operates correctly.
