If the latch tenon (22) does not engage with the catch (23), adjust the upper and lower electrical release-strikes (21) as follows (movement in flight the direction):
(a)
Open the cockpit door.
(b)
Replace the short aluminum shim (27) with a thickness of 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.) with a short aluminum shim (28) with a thickness of
1.0 mm (0.0393 in.).
(c)
Add a long aluminum shim (25) with a thickness of 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.).
(d)
Make sure that the clearance "G" is correct.
(e)
If the clearance "G" is not correct:
-remove the short aluminum shim (28) and add a second long aluminum shim (25) with a thickness of 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.).
(9)
Install the access covers (17) as follows:
(a)
Remove the screws (18) and the safety angle (14) from the lavatory wall (15).
(b)
Install the access covers (17) with the screws (18) on the housings (16).
(c)
Install the safety angle (14) with the screws (19) on the lavatory wall (15).

C. Adjustment of the Latch Mechanisms
(Ref. Fig. 507/TASK 52-51-00-991-009)
(1) Make sure that the cockpit door (2) is correctly closed and the R D-ring of the center latch mechanism (13) stays in its recess.
NOTE : The top and bottom latch tenons must be in their fully closed
____ position before the center latch tenon engages.

R (2) Measure the clearance "P" between the latch tenon (23) and the slot
R of the access cover (17).
R NOTE : The clearance "P" must be between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 5.0____
R mm (0.1968 in.).
R (3) If the clearance "P" is not in the limits, adjust the upper clearance
R "A" of the cockpit door again (refer to para. A.)
R (4) Make sure that the cockpit door is in its highest possible position.
R This makes sure that the latch tenon (22) does not touch the access
R cover (17) during the flight.
R (5) Measure the dimension "Q" of the center latch mechanism (37). This
R must be between 7.0 mm (0.2755 in.) and 9.0 mm (0.3543 in.). .
R NOTE : The dimension "Q" makes sure that the latch tenon (22) engages____
R correctly with the catch (23) of the center electrical
R release-strike (21).
R (6) If the dimension "Q" of center latch mechanism (37) are not correct,
R adjust it as follows:
(a) Remove the plugs (44) from the screws (43).
(b) Loosen the screws (43) and move the center latch mechanism (37)
R until the dimension "Q" is correct.
(c) Tighten the screws (43) and install the plugs (44).
R (7) Measure the dimension "Q" of the upper and lower latch mechanisms
R (38. These must be between 7.0 mm (0.2755 in.) and 9.0 mm (0.3543
in.). .
NOTE : The dimension "Q" makes sure that the latch tenon (22) engages____
R correctly with the catch (23) of the upper and lower
R electrical release-strike (21).
R (8) If the dimension "Q" of the upper and lower latch mechanisms (37) are
not correct, adjust them as follows:
(a) Cut and remove the lockwire from the lock nuts (40) and the
safety device (41).
(b) Loosen the lock nuts (40) at each end of the connection rods
(42).

R R (c) Turn the connection rods (42) to adjust the latch tenons (22) correctly.
NOTE : The connection rods (42) have a RH-thread at one end and a____ LH-thread at the other end for its adjustment.
(d) Tighten the lock nuts (41) and safety them with the lockwire, MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-010) on the safety devices (40).
