(5) Replace the fuel flow sensor: S Disconnect the fuel hose from the inlet side of the fuel flow sensor. S Disconnect the fuel hose from the outlet side of the fuel flow sensor. S Remove the 2 bolts and washers that attach the fuel flow sensor to the mounting bracket Move the fuel flow sensor clear of the airplane. S Put the new fuel flow sensor into position on the bracket and install the bolts and washers that attach the sensor to the bracket. S Connect the fuel hose to the outlet side of the fuel flow sensor. S Connect the fuel hose to the inlet side of the fuel flow sensor. Use a suitable container to collect spilt fuel. Put a cap on open connections.
(6) Connect the electrical cables to the fuel flow sensor: S Connect the plug.
(7) Connect the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(8) Look for fuel leaks from the sensor: S Set the ALT/BAT switch to ON. S Set fuel pump switch to ON. S Look for fuel leaks, specially in the area of the fuel flow sensor. S Set fuel pump switch to OFF. S Set the ALT/BAT switch to OFF.
(9) Install the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-12.

(10) Do a test of the fuel flow indicating system: S Monitor the fuel flow indicator. S Set the ALT/BAT switch to ON. S Do an engine ground run-up. S Shut down the engine. The indicator must read zero. Refer to the DA 40 F Airplane Flight Manual. The indicator must show the relevant fuel flow.
C. Replace the Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) Probe

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS SAFE BEFORE YOU DO ANY WORK ON IT. IF THE ENGINE STARTS THE PROPELLER CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
(1) Make sure that the engine is safe: S The ignition switch is set to OFF. S Set the ALT/BAT switch to OFF. S The throttle is set to IDLE. S The mixture control is set to LEAN CUT-OFF.
(2) Remove the engine top-cowling. Refer to Section 71-12.
(3) Disconnect the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(4) Disconnect the electrical cables from the temperature probe. Refer to Figure 4. At the in-line connector.
(5) Replace the CHT probe: S Unscrew the probe from the cylinder head. S Move the probe clear of the airplane. S Install the new probe.
(6) Connect the electrical cables to the probe. At the in-line connector.
(7) Connect the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.

(8) Install the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-12.
(9) Do a test of the CHT indicating system: S Monitor the CHT indicator. S Set the ALT/BAT Switch to ON. S Do a ground run-up of the engine. The indicator must show zero. The indicator must show the ambient temperature of the cylinder head. Refer to the DA 40 Airplane Flight Manual. The CHT indicator must show the relevant temperature.
