____ reverser open. Install and tighten the aft hinge nut from behind the thrust reverser, through the clearance between the strut and reverser upper bifurcation.
(a) Tighten the nut (9).

(12) Make sure the vee-flange of the thrust reverser aligns with the vee-groove on the engine fan case.
(a) If it is necessary, move the thrust reverser half on the hinge bolts.

(13) Close the thrust reverser half with the sling assembly (AMM 78-31-00/201).
NOTE: Do not latch the thrust reverser halves.

(16) Open the thrust reverser to the 45 degree position with the sling assembly (AMM 78-31-00/201).
NOTE: Do not release the hoist tension.

(a) Make sure the hold-open rod is extended and locked.

(19) Operate the opening system for the thrust reverser to bleed the air which is caught in the opening system with the steps that follow:
(a)
Connect the flex hose of the opening system which is installed on the thrust reverser to the strut installed union.
(b)
Loosen the flex hose on the fitting of the opening actuator.
(c)
Operate the hand pump until the engine oil leakage starts from the loose flex hose fitting.
(d)
Tighten the flex hose on the fitting for the opening actuator to 30-40 pound-inches.

Do the steps to remove the air from the opening system (AMM 78-31-06/401).
(f)
Open the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(g)
Make sure the hold-open rod is fully extended and locked.
(h)
Examine the opening actuator and flex hoses for leakage.

(20) Connect the systems that follow between the strut and thrust reverser.
