D. Leading flanges of the cascade vanes are attached with bolts to the torque box; aft flanges are attached with bolts to the cascade support ring.
6. Tension Latches (Fig. 6)
_______________
A. Four tension latches are used to attach two thrust reverser halves together. Two tension latches are accessible behind the louvered exhaust door in the lower bifurcation area. The aft tension latch is installed to the rear of the louvered exhaust door. The forward tension latch is installed on the lower forward surface of the torque box.
B. The forward nonadjustable tension latch is installed in the lower torque box of the right reverser half and engages an adjustable keeper eyebolt on the left half. The remaining three tension latches use individual adjustment wheels to move the latch hooks. These three tension latches are installed on the right thrust reverser and engage bolts set in the structure of the left thrust reverser.
7. Latch Band (Fig. 7)
__________
A. The latch band includes an anchor strap above the fan case, two latch bands (one for each thrust reverser) and a T-bolt clevis for the right thrust reverser and a T-bolt latch handle for the left thrust reverser. The anchor strap is not connected to the fan case; it only connects the two latch bands together.
B. The T-bolt (or barrel nut) for the latch band fits into a claw type clevis bracket on the right latch band; the T-bolt is adjustable to control the closing force for the latch handle.
C. The latch band holds the outer forward edge of the thrust reversers to the aft flange of the fan case. It transmits reverser loads into the fan frame and not to hinges on the strut.
8. Louvered Exhaust Door (Fig. 6)
_____________________
A. The louvered door is an exit for accessory compartment cooling air and an access to two fixed structure latches. The louvered door is installed at the aft bottom of fan duct cowl and the thrust reverser. The exhaust door is normally closed but can be left open during ground operation of the power plant for ease of routing test instrumentation lines.
