WARNING:_______ DO THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE FOR THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS BEFORE
YOU DEPLOY THE THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS,
INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE THRUST REVERSER, LEADING
EDGE FLAPS, OR WING STRUCTURE CAN OCCUR.

Retract and deactivate the leading edge flaps (AMM 27-81-00/201). S 862-073-N00
(3)
Make sure the reverse thrust levers are in the forward thrust position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
S 042-074-N00 WARNING: DO THE DEACTIVATION TASK FOR THE THRUST REVERSER TO PREVENT THE
_______ OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Do this task: "Thrust Reverser Deactivation for Ground Maintenance" S 012-075-N00
(5)
Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-04/201).
S 862-076-N00 CAUTION: DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER BETWEEN THE LOCK PROXIMITY SENSOR AND
_______ THE TARGET TO MOVE THE LOCK LEVER TO THE UNLOCKED POSITION. IF YOU USE A SCREWDRIVER OR OTHER TOOL TO SUPPLY A SEPARATION FORCE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE LOCK PROXIMITY SENSOR OR THE TARGET.
(6) Move the lock lever on the locking actuator away from the sensor. NOTE: If the lock lever does not move easily, turn the manual
____ crank counterclockwise to relieve pressure on the actuator locks.

CAUTION:_______ DO NOT MOVE THE THRUST REVERSER WHILE THE THRUST REVERSER OR
THE CORE COWL PANELS ARE OPEN. DAMAGE TO THE THRUST REVERSER
AND THE CORE COWL PANELS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:_______ DO NOT EXTEND THE THRUST REVERSER SLEEVE WHEN THE THRUST
REVERSER IS OPEN MORE THAN 23 DEGREES. DAMAGE TO THE SLEEVE
AND THE STRUT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:_______ THE EXTENSION OF THE SLEEVE WITH THE THRUST REVERSER OPEN IS
PERMITTED IN THE 23 DEGREE POSITION ONLY. THE CORE COWL PANELS
MUST BE REMOVED TO EXTEND THE SLEEVE WITH THE THRUST REVERSER
OPEN.
CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE THERE IS NO EQUIPMENT IN THE AREA BEHIND THE THRUST
REVERSER. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR IF THE THRUST REVERSER HITS THE
EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE THE MANUAL DRIVE IS FULLY ENGAGED WITH THE SYNC LOCK
DRIVE SHAFT BEFORE YOU TURN IT. DO NOT USE FORCE TO ENGAGE THE
MANUAL DRIVE. ALSO, MAKE SURE THE MANUAL DRIVE STAYS FULLY
ENGAGED WHILE YOU OPERATE THE SQUARE DRIVE. IF THE MANUAL
DRIVE IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED OR IF YOU USE FORCE TO ENGAGE IT,
DAMAGE TO THE SYNC LOCK CAN OCCUR.
(7) Install a 3/8 inch square drive into the end of the manual drive mechanism on the sync lock.
NOTE: You must push the square drive in until it stops and hold it
____ there to manually disengage the synch lock and engage the manual drive shaft.
Small position adjustments of the manual drive may be necessary to align it with the sync lock drive shaft. If you can not install the 3/8 inch square drive, use a 5/8 inch hex drive on the outer hex nut and turn counterclockwise and clockwise a very small amount.
