CAUTION:_______USE THIS TASK FOR GROUND MAINTENANCE ONLY. ACCIDENTAL THRUST REVERSER MOVEMENT CAN OCCUR IF YOU USE THIS TASK TO DO THE THRUST REVERSER DEACTIVATION FOR FLIGHT DISPATCH. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (1)  
You must do the thrust reverser deactivation when you do maintenance work on the mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems of the thrust reverser. You also must do the thrust reverser deactivation when you do maintenance work on other airplane systems adjacent to the engine or the thrust reverser.

 (2)  
The deactivation of one isolation valve causes the deactivation of the two reverser sleeves on the applicable engine. The isolation valve deactivation is necessary for manual movement of the sleeves. The deactivation is necessary to do work on the mechanical, the hydraulic, or the electrical control systems of the reverser.

 (3)  
This thrust reverser deactivation task has two topics:

 (a)  
Deactivate the Isolation Valve for the Thrust Reverser

 (b)  
Deactivate the Thrust Reverser Sleeves

 

 (4)  
The first topic gives instructions to deactivate the electrical and hydraulic systems of the thrust reverser. The second topic gives instructions to deactivate the thrust reverser sleeves only.

 (5)  
For most maintenance tasks, you must obey the instructions given in both topics. But, for some maintenance tasks, you only must do the deactivation of the electrical and hydraulic systems (the first topic of the deactivation task). Do not deactivate the thrust reverser sleeve if it will need to be manually translated.

 (1)  Open these circuit breakers for the applicable engine and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  P6 Main Power Supply Panel
 1) 6F11 T/R LOCK CONT ENG 1
 2) 6E11 T/R LOCK CONT ENG 2
 3) 6D11 T/R LOCK CONT ENG 3
 4) 6C11 T/R LOCK CONT ENG 4
 5) 6F12 T/R IND ENG 1
 6) 6E12 T/R IND ENG 2
 7) 6D12 T/R IND ENG 3
 8) 6C12 T/R IND ENG 4
 9) 6F13 T/R CONT ENG 1
 10) 6E13 T/R CONT ENG 2
 11) 6D13 T/R CONT ENG 3
 12) 6C13 T/R CONT ENG 4

 (2)  
Open the access door for the isolation valve.

 (3)  
Do these steps for the isolation valve deactivation:

 (a)  
Push the deactivation slide into the isolation valve housing.

 (b)  
Install the streamered pin in the deactivation slide.

 (c)  
Install the hitch pin in the streamered pin.
