Physical barrier: If it is not possible comply with the required physical distance, a barrier or other means that gives protection equivalent to the physical distance can be used. (For more information, refer to chapter: Harness protection - 20-33-30)
____
NOTE : Modification to the original Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) must be installed to the same standards as used by AIRBUS.
____
NOTE : For graphic representation of the routing, refer to AWM chapter: Zoning and Routing, Main Wire Routing - ATA 91-00-XX or 92-00-XX depending to the applicable aircraft type.

2. Separation between Systems 1 and 2 No single electrical failure should simultaneously affect electrical supplies of aircraft systems 1 and 2. Thus, two different electrical routings are defined for the two channels of a redundant systems in routes G, P, M, S and Q:
e.g: 1M and 2M.
The two routes of the same category are kept as far apart as possible.
Generally routes are installed on each side of the fuselage (looking
forward: system 1 (odd numbers) on the left and system 2 (even numbers) on
the right).
In specific areas where the two channels are in proximity, the minimum
distance between then must not be less than 25 mm (0.9842 in.) and a
physical barrier (protection) must be installed.
____
NOTE : Mixing of systems 1 and 2 is strictly forbidden, including in racks, boxes and panels.

3. Route Separation
____NOTE : Separation of routes obey the same rules for systems 1 and 2.
If cables are added:
-use the commercial routes,
- or create a new additional commercial route in compliance with the
installation rules and the following minimum distances which must be
maintained during their full life on the aircraft .
____
NOTE : In some very specific cases, the distances from the original design are smaller than the minimum values given below. These specific distances have been approved by zonal analysis.
A. Recommended minimum distances between routes (in mm) for
A300/A310/A300-600
(Ref. Fig. 001)
B. Recommended minimum distances between routes (in mm) for A320 family (Ref. Fig. 001)
C. Recommended minimum distances between routes (in mm) for A330/A340 family (Ref. Fig. 001)
_______________4. EFCS Separation
A. EFCS cables definition Electrical Flight Control System (EFCS) cables are cables associated to the primary flight control system: A300, A300-600 and A310: Not applicable A320 family: ATA chapter 27-92/93/94/95 A330/A340 family: ATA chapter 27-92/97/98
B. EFCS routes definition An EFCS route includes EFCS cables. It can also include cables from other systems in specific cases.
C. EFCS routes identification
For A300, A300-600 and A310: Not applicable
For A320 family, there are dedicated routes:
7M: EFCS system 1 cables routed with 1M routes
8M: EFCS system 2 cables routed with 2M routes
7S: EFCS system 1 cables routed with 1S routes
8S: EFCS system 2 cables routed with 2S routes

Separation/Routing Rules - Recommended Minimum Distance Between Routes

20-33-22 Page 3
For A330/A340 family: this type of route is identified by a third digit
F:
1MF: EFCS system 1 cables routed with 1M routes
2MF: EFCS system 2 cables routed with 2M routes
1SF: EFCS system 1 cables routed with 1S routes
2SF: EFCS system 2 cables routed with 2S routes
D. Dedicated standard items
The EFCS harnesses are equipped with dedicated connectors (VC).
These connectors provide the interface:
-
between the various EFCS harnesses,
-
between the EFCS harnesses and equipment,
-
between the EFCS harnesses and the various VU's to which they are
connected. The EFCS installation uses dedicated ground modules (VG) and ground points (VN). All items of equipment and standard electrical items dedicated to the EFCS system (connectors, terminal blocks, ground modules, ground points) are identified clearly and permanently. (Clearly visible, indelible pink or red labels with black or white printing stuck on to the structure in the vicinity of the equipment and standard electrical items involved). (Refer to chapter: Electrical items functional identification -20-32-51).

5.
Separation of Electrical Items Generally, the electrical items separation is the same as the electrical route and system separation (dedicated electrical items depending of the system).
