WIRES FUNCTIONAL IDENTIFICATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
_______
1. General This chapter gives the identification and marking rules applicable to the electrical cables. A cable or wire is defined by its
-Type, type code and gauge (Ref. 20-32-21)
-Color code
-Wire number
_______________
2. Wire Color Code The normal color of a single core wire shall not be mentioned. The wire color codes are used if necessary to identify more accurately the wires. The most of the time, the color code are used for multicore cable.
A Amber
B Blue
BK Black
BR Brown
C Clear
G Green
GY Grey
O Orange
P Purple
PK Pink
R Red
V Violet
W White
Y Yellow
____
NOTE : The code N is obsolete for wires. Whenever read on a wire it corresponds to BK.
___________
3. Wire Number All wires connected on the aircraft must be identified. It is the functional identification of the wire.
A. Wire identification Rules A numeric reference system is used for wire identification. The wire is identified by two groups of four figures separated by a space. The first four figures are the ATA 100 circuit reference followed by up to four figures indicating the number of the wire in the circuit.
____
NOTE : If necessary, a additional figure is added following these two groups to identify the color of the wire. If necessary, an other figure is added (letter "S") to identify the sensitive cable.
