 A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
 (1)
Put the warning notice in position on the panel 25VU to tell persons not to start the APU.

 (2)
 Energize the ground service network
 (Ref. TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

 (3)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
 (Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

 Subtask 49-16-00-010-066
 B. Get Access
 (1) Open the air intake flap if it is not in the open position. WARNING : MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGE OF THE AIR-INTAKE SYSTEM
_______ COMPONENTS IS CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF AIR-INTAKE SYSTEM COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
 (a) On the panel 25VU push the APU MASTER SW p/bsw (the blue ON light comes on).
NOTE : The air intake flap-actuator 4015KM starts to operate
____ immediately. It opens the air intake flap when you push the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch. It stops automatically in the flap open position. To keep the air intake flap in the open position for the subsequent procedure, you must open the circuit breakers. Then you release the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch. Alternatively you can open the air intake flap manually (Ref. TASK 49-16-00-040-003).
 (2)
Put the access platform in position below the APU compartment and the air intake.

 (3)
 Open access doors 315AL, 316AR.

 A. Visual Inspection
 (Ref. Fig. 601/TASK 49-16-00-991-006)

 (1)
Before inspection clean the air intake system (Ref. TASK 49-16-00-100-003).

 (2)
Examine the flexible seals (4), (7) and (9) for wear, tears and porosity.

 (a)
If there is any damage replace the related seal(s).

 (b)
Measure the dimension K of the seal (4) in the expanded condition. The seal must be a minimum of x + 2mm.

NOTE : X is the dimension between the inlet duct Y seal support
____ frame and the inlet plenum frame of the APU compressor, the clearence must be 18.0 +2.0 -6.0mm (0.7086 +0.0787 -0.2362in.) with closed 316AR APU door. K is the expanded seal height, this is the average hight of the two sides. (inner and outer flange).
 (c) Measure the dimension L of the seal (7) in the expanded condition. The seal must be a minimum of 20 mm (0.7874 in.) from the surface of the nut-plate to the top face of the seal at all points of conntact.

 (3)
 Air Intake System

 (a)
Examine the air intake system external and internal surfaces for delamination, distortion and cracks. Examine the diverter (1) for damage.

 (b)
Examine damage to the air intake system caused by ice particles, corrosion, erosion or unwanted objects.

 (c)
Do a tap check on all of the air intake system feltmetal surfaces, the guide surfaces and the guide vanes (5).

 (4)
Do a tap check for dalamination on the external sandwich structure of the air inlet duct (2), air intake nose (8) and the air intake flap (10). Do this at distances of 20 mm (0.7874 in.) in rows of 20 mm (0.7874 in.) apart.
