Make sure that the container is in position below the hydraulic connections of the ground connectors.
4. Procedure
_________
(Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 29-11-63-991-001) Subtask 29-11-63-420-050
A. Installation of the Self-Sealing Ground Connectors
WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL
_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
NOTE : The installation of the suction connector (1006GM) and the
____ delivery connector (1008GM) is the same. The procedure describes the installation only for one connector.
(1)
Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(2)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(3)
Make sure that the union nut (6) engages correctly with the ground connector (5).
(4)
Remove the old sealant from the surface of the mounting flange (4) and the ground service panel (3).
(5)
Install the ground connector (5) in the mounting flange (4).
(6)
Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-019) to the mating surface of the mounting flange (4).
(7)
Remove the blanking plugs from the end-fitting (1) and the ground connector (5).
(8)
Install the ground connector (5) with the mounting flange (4) at the ground service panel (3).
(9)
Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) to the bolts (7).
(10)
Install the bolts (7) and the nuts (2).
(11)
TORQUE the nuts to between 0.35 and 0.45 m.daN (30.97 and 39.82 lbf.in).
(12)
Make sure that the line-end fitting (1) is serviceable.
(13)
Connect the line-end fitting (1) to the ground connector (5).
(14)
TORQUE the line-end fitting (1) to between 9.7 and 10.7 m.daN (71.53 and 78.90 lbf.ft).
(15)
Apply PAINTS FOR DETAIL (INTERNAL AND EXTERN AL) (Material No. 07-003) to the surface of the mounting flange (4).
Subtask 29-11-63-790-050
B. Leak Test
(1)
Connect a hydraulic ground cart to the Green hydraulic system.
(2)
Pressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. TASK 29-10-00-863-001).
(3)
Do a check of the ground connector (5) for leaks. No leaks are permitted.
(4)
Depressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(5)
Disconnect the hydraulic ground cart.
(6)
Make sure that, before you install the union nut (6), no hydraulic fluid comes out of the ground connector (5).
5. Close-up
________ Subtask 29-11-63-860-052
A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
(1)
Remove the container from below the hydraulic connections.
(2)
Remove the access platform from below the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
(3)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(4)
Install the access panel 197BB.
(5)
Remove the warning notice(s).
BLUE MAIN HYDRAULIC POWER - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
_____________________________________________________
1. General
_______
The Blue hydraulic system is one of the three systems which supply the aircraft with hydraulic power. The system supplies some flight controls and also the Constant Speed Motor/Generator (CSM/G) when it is necessary.
Most of the components of the system are installed in the Blue hydraulic compartment. The compartment is in the left-hand belly fairing, forward of the main landing-gear compartment. The reservoir and the Low Pressure (LP) filter are not in the hydraulic compartment. They are in the left-hand belly fairing aft of the main landing-gear compartment. The Blue hydraulic system is hydraulically isolated from the other two main systems. It is not possible for hydraulic fluid to go from one system to any other system.
The system operates at a nominal pressure of 3000 psi (206 bar). It can provide 32 l/min (8.45 USgal) from the electric pump. The return (LP) part of the system is pressurized to 50 psi (3.5 bar). It is possible to pressurize the High Pressure (HP) system from any of three different sources:
