A. Preparation for Installation
(1)
Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).
(2)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(3)
Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

B. Installation of the Fuel-Quantity-Probes
(1) For the probe (6):
(a)
Put the probe (6) in position and install the bolts (5) and (8) and the washers (4).
(b)
TORQUE the bolts (5) and (8) to between 40 and 50 lbf.in (0.45 and 0.56 m.daN).

(2)
For the probe (9):
(a)
Put the support tube (1) on top of the probe (9).
(b)
Put the probe (9) in position and install the bolts (8) and the washers (4).
(c)
Put the support tube (1) in position and install the bolts (2).
(d)
TORQUE the bolts (2) and (8) to between 40 and 50 lbf.in (0.45 and 0.56 m.daN).
(3)
For all the probes (6) and (9):
CAUTION : REFER TO THE MATCH MARKS MADE DURING THE REMOVAL WHEN YOU
_______ CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL WIRES. INCORRECT CONNECTION OF THE WIRES WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a) Measure the clearance between the structure and the top and bottom of the probe (6) or (9). Make sure that the clearance is a minimum of 7.0 mm (0.2755 in.).
NOTE : When a probe is installed, a minimum clearance of 7.0 mm
____ (0.2755 in.) is recommened. (A clearance of less than 7.0 mm (0.2755 in.) but more than 5.0 mm (0.1968 in.) is acceptable, if local installation does not allow the recommended clearance)
(b) To prevent possible static discharge, make sure that the fuel probe is not less than 5.0 mm (0.1968 in.) from:
-the nearest structure
-rib and tank wall
-pipework
-brackets and p-clips
-fasteners and other metal parts.
(c)
Remove the blanking caps and connect the electrical cables (10) to the probe (6) or (9).
(d)
Use the cable tie (3) and the cable tie (7) to attach the electrical cables (10) to the probe (6) or (9). Use the applicable tool, set to the minimum tension, to tighten the cable ties (3) and (7).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1QT, 2QT, 8QT.

(1) Do a status report (BITE) of the FQI system (Ref. TASK 28-42-00-740-001).

Install the access panel(s) that you removed (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-400-001) or (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-400-002), or for 540HB(640HB), (Ref. TASK 28-12-46-400-001).
