The FQIC contains the Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) that lets it test and monitor:
-
the Fuel Quantity Indicating System (FQIS)
-
the Fuel Level Sensing System (FLSS) (Ref. 28-46-00). All the FQIS failures are sent to the Centralized Fault Display System (CFDS) (Ref. 31-30-00). Faults can be found on the Multi-function Control and Display Units (MCDUs) (Ref. 22-82-00). The FQIC has two channels, channel 1 and channel 2. One channel is the master channel and the other channel is the slave channel (the master channel is always the primary channel). Channel 1 and channel 2 do the BITE, but the FLSS BITE is only done by the master channel. The master channel sends all the faults that it, and/or the slave channel detects, to the CFDS. The faults are shown on the FQIS STATUS and the FLSS STATUS pages of the MCDU. It is possible to get the slave channel of the FQIC through the MCDU. To do this you select CHANNEL 1 (CHANNEL 2) on the FUEL menu page of the MCDU. The master channel will give all the faults of the slave channel.

Power-up Tests Initialization and Cockpit Effects
(1) Conditions of power-up tests initialization:
-de-energization time of computer: > 5 sec.
(a) A/C configuration:
1 FQI-06:
_ - on the refuel panel, the mode SELECT switch 3QU must be set to OFF
-for A/C with cockpit refuel panel, the refuel pushbutton 23QU must be released (out).
2 FQI-07, FQI-08 and FQI-09:
_ -A/C on ground.
(2) Progress of power-up tests (duration 80 seconds maximum):
(a) Cockpit effects directly connected to power-up test done (other effects can occur related to A/C configuration, but these can be ignored):
