Install the packing (15) on the union (14).

 (e)  
Remove the protection caps from the actuator ports.

 (f)  
Lubricate the threads of the adapter (9, 12) and union (14) with engine oil.

 (g)  
Install the adapters (9, 12) and union (14) in the actuator (7).

 (h)  
Tighten the adapter (12) at the return port to 110-120 pound-inches (12.4-13.6 newton-meters).

 (i)  
Tighten the adapter (9) at the supply port to 150-170 pound-inches (16.9-19.2 newton-meters).

 (j)  
Tighten the union (14) at the drain port.

 (k)  
Install the nut (22), new key washer (6), and rod end bearing

 (5) to the actuator (7).
 1) Do not tighten the nut or bend the key washer.


 G.  
Procedure


 S 424-063-N00
 (1)  
Install the variable stator vane actuator:

 (a)  
Put the actuator (7) to the support bracket with the rod end bearing (5) installed through the hole in the support bracket.

 (b)  
Install the bearings in the support bracket.

 1)  Align the side mount holes on the VSV actuator (7) with the openings in the support bracket bearings.

 (c)  
Apply lubricant or anti-seize compound to the bearing pins (25). 1) Insert the pins through the support bracket bearings to


 engage the actuator.

(d)  Lubricate the threads of the bolts (25) with engine oil.
 (e)  ENGINES PRE-PW-SB 72-498;
 Attach the bearing stops (27) to the support bracket with the
 bolts (25) and nuts (24).
 NOTE: If the clearance between the bolt hole in the bearing____
 stop (27) and bolt (25) is not satisfactory for the
 correct installation of the bolt, refer to PW SB PW4ENG
 75-38 for bearing stop repair.
 (f)  ENGINES POST-PW-SB 72-498;
 Attach the bearing stops (27) to the support bracket with the
 bolts (25), washers (24A) and nuts (24).
 NOTE: If the clearance between the bolt hole in the bearing____
 stop (27) and bolt (25) is not satisfactory for the
 correct installation of the bolt, refer to PW SB PW4ENG
 75-38 for bearing stop repair.
 1) Tighten the nuts to 36-40 pound-inches (4.1-4.5
 newton-meters).
 2) Install the cotter pins (23).
 (g)  Lubricate the threads of the shoulder bolt (4) with engine oil.
 (h)  Attach the rod end bearing (5) to the bellcrank lever with the
 shoulder bolt (4), washer (3), and nut (1).
 1) Tighten the nut (1) with your hand.
 (i)  Lubricate the threads of the bolt (19) with engine oil.
 (j)  Attach the ground cable (20) to the actuator (7) with the bolt
 (19).
 1) Tighten the bolt (19) to 75-85 pound-inches (8.5-9.6
 newton-meters).
 (k)  Remove the protection caps from the electrical connectors on

 the actuator (7).
 CAUTION: USE THE CORRECT ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE, AND TOOLS, FOR THE
_______ HARNESS CONNECTOR INSTALLATION (AMM 70-24-05/201). IF YOU USE THE INCORRECT ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE, OR TOOLS, A DAMAGED OR LOOSE CONNECTOR CAN OCCUR. A LOOSE CONNECTOR PERMITS VIBRATION, WHICH CAUSES THE CONTACTS TO WEAR AND DECREASES THE LIGHTNING PROTECTION.
 (l)  Connect the electrical connector (17) to the lower receptacle, and the electrical connector (18) to the top receptacle on the actuator (7) (AMM 70-24-05/201).
