 3)  Attach the forward end of the spray shield to the bracket on the diffuser case with the clamp and bolt. a) Tighten the bolt to 36-40 pound-inches (4.1-4.5
 newton-meters). 4) Attach the rear of the spray shield with the hose clamp. a) Tighten the hose clamp to 15-18 pound-inches (1.7-2.0 newton-meters).

 For the two upper aft cooling air tubes, install the upper support bracket on the Flange P with the steps that follow:

 (a)
Put the upper support bracket on the aft face of the Flange P.

 (b)
Install the upper support bracket with the bolts and nuts.


 1)  Tighten the bolts to 180-200 pound-inches (20.3-22.6 newton-meters).

 (13) For the two upper forward cooling air tubes, install the LPT case cooling-air shutoff valve (AMM 75-24-04/401).

 (14) For all cooling air tubes but the two upper forward cooling air tubes, install the lower starter air duct with the steps follow:
 (a)  
Examine flange sealing surfaces and seals for damage and contamination. 1) If it is necessary, replace the seal.

 (b)  
Install the seals into the external flanges.

 (c)  
Put the lower starter air duct between the upper starter air duct and the start valve.


 NOTE: The maximum permitted distance between the flange
____ connections is 0.03 inch (0.76 mm).
 (d)  
Attach the lower starter air duct to the start valve and the upper starter air duct with the couplings. 1) Tighten the coupling nuts to 100-115 pound-inches

 (11.3-13.0 newton-meters).

 (e)  
Lubricate the threads of the bolts, which attach the support flanges to the support brackets, with engine oil.

 (f)  
Attach the support flanges to the support brackets on the Flange P with the bolts, washers, bushing (for the upper support flange) and nuts. 1) Tighten the bolts with your hand.

 (g)  
Lubricate the threads of the bolts, which attach the support flange for the lower starter air duct, with engine oil.

 (h)  
Attach the support flanges of the lower starter air duct to the two support rods to the rear of the start valve with the bolts, washers, bushings and nuts. 1) Tighten the bolts with your hand.

 (i)  
Tighten the bolts which attach the support flanges to the support bracket to 50-70 pound-inches (5.6-8.5 newton-meters).

 (j)  
Tighten the bolts which attach the support flange to the support rods to 50-70 pound-inches (5.6-8.5 newton-meters).


 F. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition.

 (1)  Close the core cowl panel (AMM 71-11-06/201).

(2)  S 444-054-N00Do the activation procedure for the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
 (3)  S 714-069-N00If the PT4.95 pressure tube was removed, do the test of the engine pressure ratio indicating system (AMM 77-11-00/501).
 (4)  S 714-070-N00If the external oil tubes for the No. 3 or No. 4 bearing were removed, do the test for the external oil tubes that is shown in the Power Plant Test Reference Table (AMM 71-00-00/501).
 (5)  S 714-071-N00If the LPT case cooling-air shutoff valve was removed, do the test of the LPT case cooling-air shutoff valve that is shown in the Power Plant Test Reference Table (AMM 71-00-00/501).
