NOTE: This is only an approximate initial adjustment.
____
(m) Align and temporarily connect the rod end bearing to the bellcrank with the bellcrank clevis bolt. 1) Make sure the bolt head stays against the surface of the
bellcrank.

2) Do not let the bellcrank clevis bolt move out of the bolt
hole.
(n) With a crowsfoot and a wrench on the flats of the bellcrank, do
the steps that follow:
CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH TORQUE ON THE
BELLCRANK. TOO MUCH TORQUE CAN BEND THE BELLCRANK
BRACKET WHICH CAN CAUSE A BAD RIGGING.
1) Pull down on the wrench until the actuator rod is fully
extended against the internal stops (vanes open).
(o) Hold the actuator fully extended against the internal stop with
300-400 pound-inches (33.90-45.19 newton-meters) on the
crowsfoot.
(p) While you hold the actuator rod against the internal stop,
install the PWA 86344 holder between the jamnut and the top of
the actuator housing.
1) Tighten the detail bolt to 8-10 pound-inches (0.904-1.130
newton-meters).
NOTE:____ Do not tighten the detail bolt too much.
2) Tighten the detail jamnut with your hand.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE ACTUATOR ROD FULLY EXTENDED WHEN
_______ YOU INSTALL THE BELLCRANK RIG PIN. IF YOU LET THE ACTUATOR ROD RETRACT, YOU WILL NOT GET AN ACCURATE CHECK. A BAD RIGGING CAN CAUSE A DANGEROUS STABILITY AND EFFECTS ON THE LENGTH OF LIFE.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE END OF THE RIG PINS ARE CORRECTLY AND
_______ FULLY INSTALLED. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COMPRESSOR STATOR VANE CONTROL SYSTEM.
(q) Install the bellcrank rig pin (PWA 86097) into the rig pin slot of the bellcrank arm and into the two holes of the support.

(r) If you cannot install the bellcrank rig pin, do the adjustment for the rod end bearing again.
(s) If you can install the bellcrank rig pin, do the steps that follow: 1) Remove the PWA 86344 holder. 2) Remove the bellcrank rig pin. 3) Push up on the wrench to retract the actuator rod. 4) Pull down on the wrench to fully extend the actuator rod again. 5) Hold the actuator fully extended against the internal stop with 300-400 pound-inches (33.90-45.19 newton-meters) on the crowsfoot. 6) While you hold the actuator rod fully extended, install the PWA 86344 holder between the jamnut and the top of the actuator housing. a) Tighten the detail bolt to 8-10 pound-inches
(0.904-1.130 newton-meters).
NOTE: Do not tighten the detail bolt too much.
____
b) Tighten the detail jamnut with your hand.
7) Install the bellcrank rig pin again with the actuator rod fully extended.
8) Lubricate the threads of the nut, which attaches the
bellcrank clevis bolt, with engine oil.
9) Install the washer and nut to the bellcrank clevis bolt.
10) Tighten the nut to a minimum of 15 pound-inches (1.7
newton-meters) plus the torque which is necessary to turn
the nut on the bellcrank clevis bolt.
11) Continue to tighten the nut until the slot in the nut aligns with the hole in the bellcrank clevis bolt. a) You must not have more than 22 pound-inches (2.486
newton-meters) plus the torque which is necessary to turn the nut on the bellcrank clevis bolt.
12) Install the cotter pin to the nut.
